On the Lazy Newb Pack tileset, the symbol for male is a sack, or a bag.... ha.
And the symbol for female is the symbol for an amulet.... with a triangle pointing downwards, and two strings going either side.... which looks like..... well.... it.... looks like.... you know...

And with the default tileset, they look like what they're supposed to!  Imagine that!
But then bags and amulets look like mars and venus symbols. That's stupid.

Why? Everybody knows (or should know) that Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus.
But does everybody know a man is a bag and a woman is an amulet?
They're making steps towards making all tile graphics replaceable anyway, so someday you might have separate bag and gender graphics.  Which I'm beginning to wonder if that's a bad thing.
I believe that is the single most important step to making DF playable by the masses.

Maybe.  I just hope that goes in when Toady puts it in and not when modders do, or the vanilla game will cease to have anything to do with its users anymore.

Come to think of it there's a lot of features that vanilla supports but doesn't use, like graphics for creatures.  It might be time for those to start coming with sane defaults.

You never know when you might need a berserk dwarf to set loose somewhere.

I don't know what that's supposed to mean... there's a ton of people who prefer vanilla ASCII over whatever mods or graphic sets are out there.

"What's this? A goat? IT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE A G!"

I'm like an ascii bat, blind in the light of tiles. hisssss...
