It's an unarmed move. Just named absurdly, as everything in this game is.

Edit: Wait, misinterpreted your post there. Ignore me.

Is an unarmed character viable in the least?

I think $5 is a good price, I can definately see myself playing hours and hours of this game, many more hours than it takes to earn $5. I recently took a trip to Brisbane with some friends and everything was really expensive there, I'm talking $6-$8 for a damn ice cream. I will enjoy the game much longer than an expensive ice cream. This doesn't make too much sense I realise but in the grand scheme of things I think $5 is already a really good price for something that offers many hours of gameplay.

Aw, my save with a ten star axe and a ten star armor died to save corruption. I should have gotten more corruption resistiance, obviously...  ;)

Well, now that I'm restarting the game, does anybody have a nifty build that I should try? I went assassin/axe/mace/dual wield/dodging/berserk/burgler last time (pure melee) so perhaps some sort of mage/mixed character would be cool.

As per the whole losing saves thing, you must remember that it's not legitimate losing. Dying because you were outmatched is fine, but just losing all your work because steam updated without asking you is something different. I personally wish I could have held off the update till my character died, but whatever. People whining for refunds are idiots who need to calm down though. It's like those asshats in minecraft who bitched and moaned that there weren't updates every other day.

The thing that really confuses me is why this patch is incompatible with older saves. I've looked through the change log and nothing on there screams "This will totally fuck up old content". I mean, even when minecraft released the update that had totally different lighting and loading systems it allowed older maps to be converted. I just can't understand why this update would make save unusable and why the game or the player couldn't do something to change that. I just hope that every patch won't break things forever, because if they keep coming out relatively fast then I don't think I'll have time to really play a character very far before they break it.

I'm not sure, I believe it was due to the fact that the way saves are made and handled was apparently changed (for the better, I assume). Yeah, losing a character due to save incomparability is frustrating, but this is a coffee break roguelike. I'm not sure why people got enraged about it, unless they were like on the 10th floor and about to kill Dredmor. You can always start again, that's the point.

I had gotten to floor 8, and I'm a little bit mad, though not at anyone in particular. I just sort of want my character back. Again, anyone have a fun build for me to try?

Do you use a mac? They haven't shipped the update for OSX.

Gaslamp games twitter feed says they are looking at a hotfix for the broken saves ... Might be worth keeping hold of those saves for a short while yet ...

Sudden thought in my head, does anyone think that there might be different skins for the characters, objects and walls in the future?

Outside of basic color palette replacements, it seems unlikely. Maybe we'll get a female character or something, but that's about it...

I would like it if they made a female player character. That's literally all that's keeping me from being interested since I don't like being stuck in a situation where I have to play as a guy.
