I'm not moving for some reason. Was there a fix for this?

Hmm.

What's the best bow at base level?

I can make a Bolt Eruptor, is it better or worse than a Clockwork thing?

I've never tried the bolt eruptor, but I'd imagine the bolt eruptor is better than the clockwork bolt-thrower in base due to the fire proc. However, the clockwork bolt thrower is used to craft the clockwork rail launcher which is amazing.

The eruptor won't do much against the high resistances lower in the dungeon. The proc looks impressive... but that's about it.

Alrighty, made the 1st clockwork one.

And downsides to encrusting the thing with those reactors?

Bolt eruptor is amazing if you get it from a mysterious portal. My last successful Dredmor run had one equipped pretty much through the whole game.

It does get a bit weak lategame, but I still found some use with the AoE damage.

Other than the usual encrusting downside, the risk for instability, and the -2 to arcane resistance, none. I'd get the gaudy baubling instead, though, it adds more damage, less instability and gives a stun proc chance.

I don't really see why anyone would want to get the dangerously unstable reactor, sure it's level 5 in tinkering instead of 6 but it's way worse unless it has some hidden proc built in.

Well, you can encrust more than once...

Of course, but it gets riskier every time. You can encrust using the same crust several times as well (unless that's only for certain crusts, in that case disregard this), so it's better to just keep piling on the baubles rather than unstable reactors, it seems to me.

I actually lost my communist banker because of crusts  :-\ Got hit while fighting the Menagerie, got TPd into the middle of a swarm of enemies. Then the Vanguard Party's maluses and General Winter kicked in...

Unstable crusts on weapons trigger when you hit people with them, which makes several crusts on them counterintuitive. Unstable crusts on armor, on the other hand, only triggers when you get hit, NOT if you successfully dodge. What does this mean? Encrust your boots with rocket power an obscene amount of times to give yourself a ridiculous dodge stat, then encrust your armor as much as you can to make yourself immune to everything.

This is eventually getting fixed, so enjoy it while you can.

Crusting a crust over the same crust causes the instability factor to exponentially multiply. Basically it's guaranteed instability if you layer the same thing. However, there's a bug with instability effects now, even a 5% chance to occur occurs at 100%. Will be fixed in an upcoming patch.

Huh, seems even with a -2 to crit chance you still crit all over the place.

 Polearm stances are cool.

Hell, I keep critting even while using Plutonic Fist. That's -75 to crit chance. Or -50, and -75 was to counter-attack chance. Either way, it doesn't matter.
