Turn 29
Riccto:Put the slip of paper away and head back towards the group and stick with them
Ironyowl:Pressing Tide frowned and let out a doubtful "Hmm," as though he disapproved of fleeing the tentacle. He nonetheless followed the group down the stairs, however
Zako:"Get going, I'll be rearguard." Leave with the others, guarding the rear.
Taricus: "I say we get out of here. Let's head down further into the catacombs"
SeriousConcentrate:"Right behind you," he said to War Wind, following him down the stairs.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fleeing from the horror behind that awaits them, the group of Kai warriors quickly move down the stairwell, hearing the sounds of the impacts against the door lessen as they move further off. Perhaps they were rushing a bit too much, as Pressing Tide takes a dart to the chest from a trap only a few minutes later...it doesn't seem to effect him much though. He merely shrugs it off. The team notices that these traps are newly set-which means the remnants of whatever Greycloaks there are await them ahead.

They find and disable two more explosive traps further down, and as War Wind steps back, he activates the third one, hiding behind a piece of cleverly placed cobblestone. It predictably explodes, sending magic ice shards toward the group!

War Wind had already hit the ground, which left Trembling Peak to absorb the brunt of the impacts. Reflexively raising his gauntlets like a shield, he deflects most of them, except for a long sharp one that was deflected downwards to embed itself in his thigh. Ouch.

After that, War Wind had figured most of the tricks the greycloaks use. He succesfully leads the party to the very bottom of the stairwell with no further incident. The team is almost expecting more doors and another stairwell, but it seems this time, they've actually reached the bottom-a long, wide hall stretches forward further than any of them can see.

As Molten Hear peers into the gloom of the long hallway in front of him, he sees whats left of some of a collection of waist high crates, barrels and planks, obviously some sort of last ditch defensive measure. It seems to have been blasted into timbers by a powerful force, and nearly a dozen Greycloaked bodies lay still among the timbers. What's odd is that it seems that both the figures and barricade were blasted from the opposite direction-as if they were trying to keep something in, instead of out.

Trembling Peak, -2 HP

I'll be sure to get one on the waiting list then whenever this catches up to Leaf.

Sheltering Leaves set Merame down on one of the crates. "You can look around if you want. I'm going to check these bodies and see if I can determine what killed them." "All right, but be careful. I think we're still being followed," the monkey said as she opened one of the crates to check the inside.

"I don't like the looks of this. Why were they facing the other way around?" Search the bodies after using the last polituce on Trembling Peak.

Pressing Tide nodded. "It seems they failed," he said, withdrawing his deck of cards. He sat down cross-legged, examining them to determine what awaited them down the hall.

Turn 30

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Molten Heart takes a look at Trembling Peaks leg, but he's not sure how to extract the ice shard without causing further harm. After a few minutes of inept, and painful prodding, Trembling Peak merely waves him off, tears it out and pours the rest of his Lampsur potion over the wound. It seals up the wound, though not as clean as he would have liked.

Trembling Peak has earned the following achievement
Scarred: This warrior will wear a scar on his lower left thigh for the rest of his days.

War Wind consumes a full meat ration, allowing it to refuel the fire in his belly. Afterwards, he belches in satisfaction, and black smoke pours from his nostrils. As Pressing Tide begins to lay out his Karma cards, the rest of them goes to investigate the bodies...

Trembling Peak. -1 Half full Lampsur Potion, +1 Empty Glass Bottle, +5 HP (16/16)
War Wind, -1 meal, Firebreathing ability Recharged
-------------------------
Pressing Tide

...brings out his card deck-not ordinary cards, these change in number and form with every drawing...he lays five out in a hexagon shape, and places one in the center, and begins uncovering them counter-clockwise, starting with the top.

The First is the closed fist. A sign of conflict to come...not that he needed the cards to tell him that.

The second is a bolt of lightning, shaped like a bird. That means there is a great power ahead, and it will be uncontrollable and deadly.

The third card is the figure of Venus, Goddess of Love. She is weeping.

On the fourth card, Pressing Tide grimaces. The deadly cockatrice, whose breath, gaze and touch were said to kill. It's a sign of great danger, but the beast appears to be sleeping. A warning to be cautious?

He unveals the fifth card, and sees a shadowy figure, standing behind a Golden King, whispering in his ear. It radiates evil.

The center card is the most important. He flips it over-it's a rose, growing under a wooden porch, using a single shaft of sunlight to reach toward the Heavens. The darkness underneath it crawls with unspeakable things.

The cards are fickle today...and not much help. But the fifth card-it could mean two things...

------------------------
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The four Kai begin poking through the bodies, Merame searches the crates, but they find no weapons or armor. Aside from their cloaks, they've been stripped of equipment.

Sheltering Leaves tries to determine the cause of death, and finds most of them are unwounded except for the shape of burned handprints on their chests, necks and temples. He knows from his studies these are Helghast wounds-vile undead infiltrators, that take the shape of men...

War Wind is about to kick over and examine another body, when Trembling Peak shouts a warning! This man is quite alive, and realizing the game is up, leaps to his feet and begins running down the hallway, while yelling for help.

"Brothers! We are being attacked by tomb Robbers!"

He seems to be both unarmed, and unarmored, but he's pretty quick on his feet.

Damn. Firefox ate it, huh?

Leaf immediately started sprinting after acolyte. It seemed the best thing to do now would be to bring him down and question him, and the elf went for a flying tackle to take him to the floor.

You can blame Darvi for burying the ammunition along with the Greycloak Sniper. :P

If the Acolyte gets away, the next turn will be named "You can blame Darvi".
