Help examine the guest rooms, especially those gold necklaces.

Head into the guest room and look in the chests and other containers for something useful. Don't go near the table. Also, use the healing kit on War Wind.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Trembling Peak
The Dwarf decides not to risk angering any latent defenses here, and begins studying them in earnest. He can't really determine their individual functions, so he chooses one that he believes is Dwarf make-half length, made of Mithril with a slight upward arch at one end. He opens the case and quickly snatches it. Trembling Peak has a moment feeling watched, but it quickly passes. That was weird...

It seems to be solid Mithril-and it's user friendly! Instead of saying some silly nonsense words, you merely place your thumb on a small button located above the handgrip to activate it. Someone at the monastery could translate the cryptic writing for you, but you do feel the urge to try it out right away, damn the consequences!

+1 Mithril Wand (Unknown effect)

Sheltering Leaves
You break off from the others and enter the room with the ring of stones that War Wind described. That cloak he described has you intrigued...the room is as he said-empty, save for a ring of stones. You walk into the ring, accidently knocking one of the rocks aside with your foot as you pass. You pause. What was that noise behind you? It sounded like someone was tapping..very quietly.

You decide it was just your imagination.

You walk toward the cloak, and flip it over with the tip of your bladed staff to avoid any traps. Big surprise-it's another skeleton! This one is hunched down in fetal position, with his hands over it's ears. As if he died in great fear. This makes no sense at all...if he was a Greycloak, he could have walked right out the door.

You see a scrap of paper clutched in his bony hands-last words, you guess. It's written in a tiny, spidery, jagged script that makes your flesh crawl.

Spoiler: stange note (click to show/hide)

As you try and puzzle this out, Merame mentions she's confused about something-more than usual. She says she smells something, but what she smells isn't where she's seeing it's supposed to be. Odd.

Was that the noise behind you again?

Pressing Tide, Molten Heart and War Wind

Molten Heart has no formal medical training, but he's done quick patchwork on himself in the past-he fixes up War Winds hurt leg with no delay. Afterwards, the three Kai enter the Guest Quarters and begin to ransack it.

They make a conclusive search-if they were tomb robbers, they would surely be able to pawn the silverware...they break the rusty locks off the chests in the back-other than some old letters and notes, there's nothing useful. Molten Heart stays to read through them-Pressing Tide and War Wind seem to be preoccupied. They find themselves drawn to the necklaces.

Pressing Tide is intrigued. They almost seem...familiar. Powerful...all he has to do is reach out and claim one. Which he begins to do, before his trained mental defenses begin to awaken. He pulls his hand back. Something is very wrong here. It looks as if these persons died clutching their throats. Pressing Tide looks over at War Wind, who is reaching for one even now. He hurriedly warns the Kai, but War Wind merely smiles at him and place it over his neck, and then...

War Wind thinks they are very beautiful in the right light. It's such a shame that they will molder here, unseen and unenjoyed by all...he thinks of all the women he could pleasure with such fancy jewelry adorning his rugged reptilian frame. He's given up enough for the cause, doesn't he deserve this...so small a thing.

Almost against his will, he finds himself reaching for one...He hears Pressing Tide saying something. Don't wear the necklace? He's just jealous. Probably wants to keep them all for himself.

He lifts it from the remains of the man who was once died in agony, who was named Lord Arrow, and places it around his neck. Now that's a necklace fit for a Lord, he preens...when suddenly, War Wind feels the necklace begin to tighten around his neck like a python...

Molten Heart was perhaps wiser, wanting nothing to do with strange jewelry adorning the dead. He instead pulls out an old journal-he can't read the name of the author, but the title says "The Keeper", so he figures it must be important. As Molten Heart often does, he skips past all the boring parts and goes straight to the end...

Spoiler: Final Entry (click to show/hide)

Molten Heart then hears the sound of War Wind choking to death in the dining room behind him.

--------------------------
Molten Heart, -1 healing poultice, 5 hitpoints healed (War Wind +5 12/17)

Leaves replaced the stone, ignored the note, and left the room. Clearly no good would come from fooling with this any further. He also ignored Merame for the moment; she was just talking nonsense. Back out in the hall, he waited for the others. There was no point in going any further on his own, considering what had happened the last time.

Well, that's why I'm cautious about looting the dead at times. Usually nothing wrong with good old chests in the way of curses.

I'll have to read this later. Put it away for the moment and run back and help War Wind pry it off. Try to find a lever of some kind to help.

Also, you haven't updated war wind's health points.

Point the wand at the ground a good distance from him, not at any of the other wands, and attempt to activate it.
