Damn, things are heating up for us. Well, I might as well give it a go. Wish me luck guys!

Put on the armour and one of the spidersilk vests if possible, take a sip of my lampsur potion, check the tempreture of my ring and put it on if its cold enough, grab my bastard sword and a dagger (slipping the dagger into either my boot or my belt) and compose myself with a few deep breaths.

"Thank you friend. Worry not for me, for if my life ends, I shall be at one with the earth again. In any case, it was an honour to travel with all of you. You may keep my things if I fall, I won't need them anymore if I do."

Moltern then turns to face the ogres with a calm look on his face. The crystals that make up his hair seem to glow slightly and he looks at the stone head.

"I accept this challenge with both honour and dignity. Who shall I fight?"

Turn 45
Molten Heart drains the rest of his Lampsur potion, then puts on the Silk vest and the heavier armor. He takes a few practice swings with his sword, and Sheltering Leaves slips him a knife and the blue seed, and he slips both into his left boot without anyone noticing. He is escorted to the arena...

Pressing Tide is taken away by Ogre Warriors who don't look him in the eyes directly, and tossed into a primitive wood hut.

Sheltering Leaves and Blade Singer are brought along as well, but the Ogres seem to have forgotten to redo Sheltering Leaves ropes...Blade Singer is dumped roughly on the ground again, and a second Ogre Child begins chewing on his other shoulder.

Molten Heart sees the arena up ahead-it's a large, circular pit in the ground, about 30 feet in diameter. A large wooden dome structure extends over the top of the pit, effectively caging the fighters within.

The War Ogres champions step forward, and Darain indicates Molten Heart can choose which he will be allowed to face. Your allowed to ask the challengers any questions you would like, but they are not required to answer you truthfully.

1. Fuzghurk Skullcracker: Hmm. He's a big one. In fact, he's almost twice as large as the Thane you faced earlier, and wields a massive two-handed steel battlehammer, and is wearing armor, helm and gloves made of the doublethick hide of a Cave Tyrannosaur. He beats his chest like an ape, and smashes his hammer into the ground, leaving a dent as deep as Molten Heart is tall.

Darain mentions "Well...they are saying Fuzghurk actually prefers to fight with his fists, but he's still capable with a hammer. Apparently he strangled that Cave Tyrannosaur he's wearing himself with his bare hands..."

2. Merrigurthag The Blood Shaman:Well, he's some sort of spell caster-he's encircled in a subtle red energy field that hums and buzzes. He's wielding a long crystal staff of some sort, with a living amoeboid being squelching on the end, composed of coagulated red jelly...he looks at you from behind his ceremonal red skull mask, and you feel your blood begin to boil...or maybe that's just your skin crawling.

"Merrigurthag is what the Ogres call "Blood Shaman"-he can not only steal the blood from another living being to heal and empower himself, but he can order the Blood to fight for him in the form of animals."

3.Blas'gur Heartstopper+Mas'Gur Shallowgrave: This Largish Ogre wields dual curved handblades and a collection of scavenged scrap metal armor on his muscle bound frame, and is actually being ridden by a Kobold Warrior attired in similar garb, on a small saddle on his back. The Kobold sticks his rat tounge out at you when you spot him, and whispers something to the Ogre, who laughs uproariously. You can see Blas'Gur and Mas'Gur share a brother bond that is not too different from your own Kai brotherhood.

"They claim Blasgur is subnormal in intelligence, and he relies upon Mas'Gur, his Kobold clan brother for aid in battle-techncially, the Kobold doesn't count as an Ogre, so that bypasses the rules of a one-on-one duel. They are both accomplished warriors, and they're saying Mas'Gur is a also a spell caster of some sort. I would guess they make a dangerous duo in battle."

------------------------
Silver Tree successfully sneaks closer to the Ogre Camp. He can see Molten Heart being brought before the challengers...he feels he could actually communicate with them from a distance using his mind, as long as he remains undiscovered. What will he do now?

A voice that none of the Kai (The ones tied up) had heard before began echoing in their minds 'Hello, I am Silver Tree do not be alarmed for I am an ally. I have come to help you, but you must also help me if we are to succeed. Now how would you, my friends, go about this?" asked Silver Tree as he put his hand on Alucard's head to get him to halt. The enemies were to many for him to handle by himself even with Alucard he was greatly outmatched, and staying hidden was the only thing keeping him alive.

((For reference, there's like 30-35 warriors and spell casters in the village, and double that in children, mothers and elders, who would fight if theatened. You can talk to the other Kai mentally from this range, so you might want to plan something out beforehand.))

Leaf sighed and ran his hands through his hair, pushing his hood off for the moment. Things were falling apart completely. Lone Wanderer had been captured, Silent Fox had been incinerated, Mending Moon was caught by the Spider-Elves and was probably eaten, and War Wind had been frozen solid. Maybe the expedition was doomed from the start... He couldn't help but feel he had led them all to their end by suggesting they take this road, and it was bitter indeed he was the only one left. They had rescued other Kai, true, but even then to save Blade Singer, Trembling Peak had had to take his place. Perhaps, he felt, the real curse was the elf himself, even if he was the last one left that Shadow Lion trusted with this task.

He sat back against the wall and closed his eyes. Huh... feels like there's a wolf out there. He thought no more of it, instead drinking the half-full lampsur potion and flinging the empty bottle against the wall hard enough to shatter it and hopefully scare the ogre children away from Blade Singer. As he winced away slightly from the noise himself, he heard a voice in his mind. Silver Tree? This is Sheltering Leaves. Appropriately enough, he felt. Maybe this was a good sign, having two Kai together with their names both taken from a similar source. I'm the First Brother of the Kai here; Molten Heart, Blade Singer, and Pressing Tides. Molten Heart is about to fight a duel that can free all of us, but I have a plan if he falls; I'll create a distraction long enough for Tides and Blade Singer to escape. Can you wait for my signal? he asked mentally.

I assume we can talk to him if he can talk to us. ^^;

Shiiit... They all look tough. What do I go for, the pure fighter (who will surely outmatch my own prowess), the pure caster (liking my odds against this one, but the summons could be a problem) or the hybrid (if I manage to kill the kobold, the ogre should fall easily enough, but thats easier said than done)? Hrmmm...

Moltern heart paces across all three combatants slowly. Inspecting their bodies, the way they handled themselves and their weapons and pauses to look each in the eyes. What could he see in their eyes? Was it anger? Fear? Ambition? Or something else?

It depends on if the caster can use your blood as well. If he can't (my reasoning for that being that it's probably some molten substance like magma rather than actual blood), he might be a good choice.

Hrmmm...

Moltern heart paces across all three combatants slowly. Inspecting their bodies, the way they handled themselves and their weapons and pauses to look each in the eyes. What could he see in their eyes? Was it anger? Fear? Ambition? Or something else?

As he has been taught, Molten Heart inspects his enemies closesly.

Fuzghurk seems to be enjoying the attention he's getting, making the other Ogres laugh and cheer with some sort of speech-he seems a natural leader. He meets your gaze with one of his own, but he doesn't smile or sneer, apparently inspecting you as well. You notice an older warrior behind him-if Ogres have family resemblances like other races, you would guess it's his father. The Older Ogre speaks to him...you don't really have to know the words, but the tone sounds patronizing, and the other warriors around him change their tone and posture to pay attention to father instead of Fuzghurk.

You can tell by his body language Fuzghurk is frustrated from losing the spotlight. Then he turns to you. Then back to his father. Then his hands begin to tighten their grip around the haft of his hammer. It's fairly clear he's hoping to destroy you and finally earn his fathers long withheld respect.

He carries his weapon a bit awkwardly-like he's not used to the weight yet. Judging by the scars on his hands, he's probably got more skill in bare knuckle brawling. Sheltering Leaves warns that Fuzghurk is much more agile than he might seem-his legs are as taut as bow strings, and he has the build of a boxer, if not a martial artist himself.

Merrigurthag is sitting cross legged, in a sort of trance like state, not paying attention to anyone. In fact, most of the other Ogres seem to be giving him a wide berth-his staff seems to inspire some sort of primordial dread. When you meet his gaze again, you still get that flesh crawling feeling all over you- It's difficult to read his face since he's wearing that wooden red mask, but his eyes look emotionless, yet calculating-the left eye is bright red, but the right one is a clear, milky white. On close inspection, he appears to mumbling words quietly-prayer or incantations maybe, and his aura pulses in tune with them as his cadence rises and falls. Upon closer inspection, the amorphous creature, or whatever it is, on the end of his staff seems to be growing in density and glowing brighter as he chants.

Other than his staff, he wields no other visible weaponry, and his armor is light plated bonemail placed across his front and back in strips.

Judging by his stance, the Ogre Blood Shaman seems to favor his left side. Perhaps his vision is damaged on the right?

Blas'gur Heartstopper and Mas'Gur Shallowgrave also sit with a slightly smaller group of Clan members, and seem to be talking quietly among themselves. You meet Blas'gurs-the Ogres-gaze, and he actually seems afraid of you for a moment, then the Kobold pats his larger friend on the shoulder and says something, and the Ogres courage seems to buck up. Mas'gur gives you a defiant and angry look despite his small size, as one only can to someone whose affronted a close family member. Then they are back to laughing and chatting with one another. The Kobold seems to be trying to calm the Ogre down. You actually know a little of the Kobold tounge, having lived underground long enough-he's trying to convince Blas'gur he won't be hurt or killed if they have to fight.

As you watch, the Kobold begins to chant and sway, and his claws glow bright blue-at the same time, the Ogres hands glow the same color, then they both fade. Whatever enchantment tricks he knows, it's clear they are both shared.

Judging by the speed and dexterity at which the Kobold skitters around, you would guess he's used to fighting. He's carrying hand claws like the ogre, but they are smaller and thinner-perhaps designed for slipping through or under armor, and you can make out the sheen of a poison substance on them. You spot a flash of metal-something hidden under his cloak, perhaps a belt of throwing knives? The Kobolds saddle is located right behind the Ogres head-it fits on a chained harness attached to the Ogres Neck, allowing the Kobold to peer over.

The Ogre seems more excited than angry. He carries jagged iron handclaws strapped to both arms, and favors his left arm. His armor is composed of tough iron plate scraps composed of many different pieces of armor, which have been roughly welded together-they may be weak at the seams to a strong thurst. You spot a section of Green Iron used to shore up his lower left side-a weak spot?

By the way, if you're able to it'd probably be better to incapacitate than kill. Unless it's explicitly to the death, that'd probably go over better.

Hmmm... It's either the shaman or the hybrid. Both should have weaknesses that I can exploit (weak casters build, weak armour spots) but it's a hard choice. I don't want to fight Fuzg, since it would be best to get on the good side of these warriors and killing the son of a respected warrior is a good way to get in their bad books.

Shaman may be blind in one eye, but that may be just a ruse or temporary until he starts casting.

That hybrid pair is looking like the best bet, but I'm worried about that poison and those spells. I should disable that kobold as fast as possible and then the ogre should fall easily.

Your opinions guys?
