a dwarf will die of alcohol poisoning

What is this blasphemy ? Considering how rarely they drink (a few liters of alcohol per season), they certainly will not die of alcohol poisoning.

This forum is so awesome.

It is speculated that a dwarfen brain's only purpose it to keep said dwarf drinking and being adopted by cats. Everything else is handled by the Main Control Unit, a.k.a. The Beard.

If the brains dented as opposed to bruised it's not a doctor you want. A good mechanic should be able to pound that dent right out.

Ok see the part that just flabbergasted me was not that he survived a blow to the head, but rather he survived a blow from a ballista. I know a lot has changed, but the last time I used a ballista they pretty much annihilated everything in their path.

Also elect your brain damaged dwarf as mayor for added fun!

A dwarf doesn't die of age. They only die of alcohol poisoning.

Sounds very working as desired to me. Everyone of us saw many deaths due to brain damage, some SHOULD survive as people IRL survived funny stuff like -iron rods- through the brain. You'd never make a thread if UristMcSiegeOperator died on the spot due to brain damage after all.

Wait, do you remember, at all, what his personality was like? Did the ballista bolt alter it in any way?

Every thread talking about dwarves injuries always brings me back to the same thing. I had a miner in a cave-in that recently succumbed to infection and hadn't been moved from his bed yet. I haven't built any beds in the fortress yet, so my dwarves were apparently hankering for a fine bed. So much that one climbed in the same bed as the infected corpse and slept with it.

perhaps the dorf was in actuality seeking a fine bedding?

Awesome

So how are you going to honour him? He's a special dwarf, he should at least have a burial chamber built. Maybe a suit of bone armour and a tin cap?
