HugoLuman's journal
1st Obsidian, 501

So, the list of enemies of our revolution has grown: The Aristocracy, Rhinoceri, Hippopotami, and Milkfish.

But in other news, I have ordered the delving of a water reservoir that will take water direct from the lake. When completed there shall be a drawbridge to seal the flow of water, lest anything attempt to get in, and a meeting hall with wells so all may freely use the water.

However, I doubt it will be complete before the year is over. Also, I thought we could use a way to dispose of waste, so I modeled one after what we used in my old mountainhome. A small chamber, adjacent to the Community Hall will be delved and fitted with a drawbridge. This shall be designed to lower with enough speed to obliterate any waste placed within.

It brings tears of joy to these eyes of mine now to witness Kulpamens and Nevyn digging. I see how the stone seems to melt under their picks, how fast do they dig!

HugoLuman's journal
30th Obsidian, 501

It is new years eve, and in the morning I turn over control of the fortress to Kulpamens. It shall be up to him to finish the bedrooms.

Here is my report for my Comrade:

The waste disposal room is dug, and the bridge designed. For now, Nevyn is too busy to build it but it will soon be in use. I do not want bones, skulls, or shells to be disposed of. Give them their own refuse pile so they can be used in the crafting of the things.

The farms are bountiful, but we only have one crop: plump helmets. I know how dwarves can get when we only have one kind of alcohol to drink, so I still want aboveground farming. Comrade Nevyn's windmill aqueduct sounds adequate for the irrigation of this farming.

The reservoir is dug, but the meeting hall above it is not. The bridge/floodgate is yet to be built. Make sure it is operational before the north wall is dug out to allow the water in!

I still lead the revolution, but I am glad to share more of this leading burden. I am looking forward to see what new ideas you have for Cuborator!

Here's the save, which I leave in your (hopefully) very capable hands :D
Try not to be as late as I was:

Kulpamens journal:
1st granite

I've been doing this dug job so much , that I didn't seen what the hell is really going on in here. I had only dug and dug and dug, that even when I'd closed my eyes, only thing I've seen was pile of rock. And now I'm like why? Why don't we have any magma smelter already?!? I'm stumbling on ore every day, it lays here everywhere, nothing else to do but smelt. Smelt that bloody ore in this beautiful red blood of earth so everything will sparkle. Thanks Armok, we have an Anvil.

That will be first thing to do, right after I'll disassemble that freaking wagon. Why haven't it been done yet? It's 3 wood logs... a lot of logs in land where there is very little of it.

But... wait a little... I can enter freely to the fort, no traps, no watchdogs, no noting inside that middle finger. I'm not concerned about some goblins or trolls, they don't know about us yet. But those monkeys, didn't seen any here already, but those damned piles of fur, would steal anything, and we can't afford this.

HugoLuman, had build us a bedrooms, but what he had in mind.... I don't know. Maybe he is a little deaf. Every dwarf knows that noise from workshops spreads on four tiles in EACH direction. Even through z-levels. I've been sleeping for a year in poor conditions and I'd like to have a solid sleep for a once. This I going to change.     At least I've, my own room.

And one more thing, why the hell do we need a above ground farm, that we have to irrigate and fertilize. We can plant sweet pods to make rum, and pig tails to make Ale. Problem solved, tadam.

I'll have to go and discuss all of this stuff to HugoLuman

15th granite
Some dwarves are always on idle. While we have so much work to do I had found them a job. There will be few training axes ready soon, that should allow them to cop the trees. We need them so much now. I'm so thirsty of  that wood.

23th Granite
Migrants!!!!
I don't know should I praise or curse their arrival. Always we could use few extra pairs of hands. And we sure will, but we have so little space to live and no perspective of having more soon. New sleeping quarters are only designed for now. There is not enough beds, and not even smelting hall had been dug. But what the hell, everyone is welcome in the rise against those filthy nobles. The more of us, the sooner they will perish. I've went to welcome them.

“Welcome my comrades!”

“Are we here, I's this Cuborator? We knew we will finally make it. It's so far, at the end of the world they said. But finally. Will you take us?”

“For sure! Every liberated dwarf will find a place with us. Come, You'll tell us your story inside.”

There are our migrants:
Ber Mengód, Glazer – not only he is a pretty good glazer, but he also worked a lot on farm, and know how to do a lot of other things, and how to fight
Thikut Tathurlogem, a peasant – every hand is needed, at least he knows how to fight
Kubuk Cattenkol, a weaver – she can also train animals
Rigoth Tunvucar, engraver – and nothing much more, except he brought a piglet
Fath Ilidaszkzul, Beerkeeper – I don't know what to do with this guy he is a furnace operator, and we won't be using any of those maybe I'll make a mason form him
Dakost Rigothkoman, Glassmaker – very good glass maker, he will make very useful crock screws for our pumps. Oh, and brought a stray Cow and baby Llama. Yay!
Atir Brimsmirrored, Fisherdwarf – well, HugoLuman said we need another fisher, so here he is, he can also make clothes and farm, but we more need him as fisherdwarf. And not to get bored he bring a blue Peacock.
Cog Zulbanfikod, Milker – a strange name for a labour, at least she is a dwarfwomen
Thikut Zelerkogan, Armorer – I already like this girl very much, as soon as we will get smelter, she can start making armours. And she also knows how to fight.
Limul Vlolustuth, Surgeon – hope that we won't need him soon, but he is a good reason to make a hospital. He brought a Stray Water Buffalo
Iton Noberush, Bowyer – What boyer is she if she cant even shoot!
Zan Bomrekog, Gem Setter – as we have a lot of gems, we could make great use of his skills
Domas Lidlokum, Brewer – I only hope he don't drink everything what he brews
Udil Bromeksod, Craftsdwarf  - with he and Gem Setter Zan, we will be able to show our great wealth to nobility in no time!
Tun Dakostmunset, Woodcrafter – a very good woodcrafter, that knows how to fight
Besmar Ensebzaneg, Trapper – maybe she bring some meat, sometimes
Kol Nabastobul, Huner – Huray! Here we have our first marksdwarf.
Udib Urvadromek, Fish cleaner – all those fishes will now be double useful

And thats all of them, so much...

30th Granite

All I got from migrants for now Is more idlers. So I ordered to chop down all of trees, hope it'll work. Few more training axes will be needed also. Works on smelting hall are pushing forward.

11th Slate
I tried to ask HugoLuman for a meeting hall, how would he like it to look alike. But he is still busy, and busy, so I'll do it my way.
I didn't know what to do with those idlers, they don't want to chop that trees. So I ordered to clean up future meeting hall

There will be also some statues needed, and a well in the middle, but for now, cleaning should be enough. It took only 5 days though.

And also I had ordered to dig another workshop for gem cutters and stone crafters. Maybe smelting hall isn't completed but gem cutting seems to be more exciting.

Whoa! Wait, what is that those three white stars I see. Is that...

Yess! Oh praise 17th Slate Armok.

22th Slate,
finally I'd found a way to encourage my dwarfs to cut tress, now everybody is cutting trees.

28th Slate
Crafts can be made, workshop space had been dug. Now only to clean that stuff out. I also assigned this day as a day of “water blocking bridge test”. I'm curios how does it work.
Well, nothing happens... I'll try to open the tunnel, but previously I'll mount a flood gate.

Kulpamens journal:
15th Felsite
In the middle of all jobs, elven caravan had arrived. I don't really like these guys, we here fight for liberation, and they are most aristocratic races from all. Maybe I'll just ignore them....

And I was wrong, bridge seems to be working, just in some invisible to me way.

16th Felsite
I don't know what to offer to those elves, shmalves... Maybe some rocks, as they don't like wood to be offered.
Man those guarding dogs are horny, this responsible job is turning them on, they breed like crazy.

17th Felsite
I'd made some trade with nasty elves. They were asking all the time what we do here what for, and stuff. But for me the most important was the stuff they brought. Except, some bins, buckets and barrels, everything useless. Some rat weeds and a lot of clothes. That had to be a poor caravan. I only hope they will make it to the home land to spread the word about our great revolution! The world will burn soon. Oh, and I had pushed some useless stone to them. Well I hadn't much to offer.

18th Hematite
My plans are going good for now. Smelting hall is ready to build workshops in, so lets bring some fireworks to this place.

19th Hematite
How's disposal supposed to be built, if there is a bridge “on the road”.  I ordered it to be de constructed.

23rd Hematite
I'd more like when my comrades are working, especially now when there is a lot of work on the beginning to get this place running. But, well we all need a break sometimes, so I'll take one.

2nd Malachite
Dwarf, I didn't saw it at first, but those turkeys, are really fighting for a nest, to bring eggs. If they like it so much I'd ordered a 10 brand new nest box to be made. Soon not only dwarf will have brighter future, but even a turkey! Cuborator bring us wealth.

12th Malachite
We can start forging, but have no weapon smiths. So I ordered few first dwarfs, that didn't know what to do to start smelting, blacksmithing and other that hot metal stuff. Maybe first of our metalcrafts won't be premium quality, but soon boys'll get better at it. Don't ya dwarfs?

21st Malachite
At least we can start digging new bedrooms complex. 24 bedrooms in one cluster. All should be engraved and fully equipped in 5 months. Even our “glorous leader” is digging. I don't know where is this nick name from, for me he is just normal lad. Hillbillie like all of us here.

25th Malachite
We had just started digging and some wild aquifer appears. Our “glorious leader, had hit it, hope it wont, break. Armok damnit, we have to move deeper!

28th Malachite
Another wave of migrants and we have only started digging of bedrooms.

Domas Lashedonul, Trapper - … a new source of food
Besmar Sefoltekkud, Miner – Maybe he don't have a pick, but there is a lot to dig.
Erith Velathel, Milker
Kogsak Idokfeb, Potter
Likot Stibmerducim, Furnance operator – right at time
Asmel Cilobmozib, Animal Careteaker

14th Galena
A U-man caravan, nice. Maybe we will make it on time with crafts.

17th Galena
What??!!! Where are they going to unpack, and I don't have enough goods... I don't  know, either they'll wait or I'll make another trading post.

And something strange happen to Iton Noberush. He just arrived, and I didn't have time to know her, but I think she acts a bit strange.

28th Galena

What?? I didn't had to build second depo? What a poor imagination I have... At lest I'd sold them some almost useless crafts, for some leathers and cheese. And they wanted much more, but HugoLuman was stubborn and they didn't make much profit on us for good of us all. U-mans and dwarfs.

Brilliant! Most succession games have managing bungling when people switch turns, noticing the last player's flaws and introducing some flaws of their own. But it plays well to our story, for how do you know it's Soviet Communism if it doesn't have oversized bureaucracies that mismanage resources? :D

Good to see I'm out of that office. Maybe my description will cease to say I'm fat, once I've done some digging.

Just a few things:

-I started making a bath trough in front of the Reservoir Meeting Hall, didn't get to fill it. Just wanted you to know why there's randomly a trench there.

-As of 31.25, workshops produce no noise. Still, good thinking, I would not have thought of that.

-It might not be an aquifer. Tiles underneath a body of water will be "damp," but not necessarily flood. Then again, areas underneath lakes tend to have aquifers. See if it still says 'Damp' a level down.

-That smelting hall looks kinda dangerous. Flyers could enter thru the volcano crater and those troughs are just begging for a fire imp attack.

-If you raise the drawbridge in the Trash Compactor, you can place a refuse stockpile under it. Then it can be used to crush things. Just a thought, when the first baron arrives he's gonna want a bedroom...

-Remember to lower the bridge/gate when you want to open that wall and let the lake fill the reservoir. May want to close it in the event of an emergency.

Anyways, can't really boss you around, though, it's your turn :D
Here's hoping we make it thru our current turn roster

Wow, nice fort.  I actually thought, from what you people posted a while back, that you had actually rejected my application for dorfing.  I thought I pissed you people off, with that crack about communism, that you didn't add me.  I didn't know that I was already added.  Anyway, nice job, and hopefully this communist fort will grow even stronger.

I'm worried we did not yet establish a professional revolutionaries' organization to serve as the heart to our new party, which will in turn be the core and the progressive vanguard of workers' class! We should make it asap to prevent workers from forming trade-unionistic guilds and misinterpreting the ideas of Communism!

Also, looks like new immigrants are pretty illiterate and do not know what our goals and purposes are. I bet they do not even know what communism is! We should start our likbez educational program to teach them how dwarven society will jump into communism without sticking in filthy capitalistic phase!

Osestotho, Otaksozu
502

The goblins filled the great hall, as Zolak Poisondevil strode out on the high platform to speak. The black obsidian flagstones of which the great tower was constructed would have added an air of importance to the room, but Zolak's presence already did that. The goblins were silent, waiting for their leader to speak.

Zolak put his hands on the cold, dark stone podium. "I see that today, I stand among my friends!" His voice projected magnificently, rebounding around the great room even up to the mighty black arches on the ceiling. "This is undeniably true, is it not?"

A great cheer rose from the goblins. Though they knew it already, it pleased them to hear that Zolak though of them as friends. Imagine, me, friends with Zolak himself! they thought.

"We all remember the darkest hour of our people, when our leaders were weak and fought amongst themselves, and the humans were poised to strike. But now we know only strength!"

Another rousing cheer. He was building up to something important here.

"But now we are no longer weak, we see that the foreign devils encroach upon us! The land we occupy is too small, too tiny to contain our might. And the humans nations all around this lake are so big, not to mention that enormous elven empire, the Deserts of Shadow, to the south. How can it be right for them to have so much and we so little? Is it right for the weak to propagate and spread when the strong aren't looking? IS IT!?"

"NO!" roared the crowd. He was really conducting them now.

"Should not us, the superior and strong, seize what we want!?"

"YES!"

"A Gaxces, sticks tied around an axe, is strong. Strong because the sticks are united and tied together to become a mighty whole! Our state is weakened by individuals who seek their own interests. We must sacrifice our own needs and function as a nation! The Nation is everything! UNITED WE CONQUER!"

"UNITED WE CONQUER!"

"Long live the Fuhrer!"

"LONG LIVE FUHRER ZOLAK!"

"Long live Otaksozu, The Confining Poison!"

"LONG LIVE OTAKSOZU!"

Not meaning to encroach on your turn. Just helping the story along....  ;D
