oh, i have tha save how. too bad all named dwarves are dead but i'll work around it.
Guys this is EPIC. none of all my fortresses ever looked like that.
I now understand that all my dwarves had been crawling in overpopulated beehives. Now i see what true scale is!

I definitely love cuborator and i'll do my best to lead it to its glory!

Да здравствует Революция!

"Mr. Arzeskib, Mr. Arzeskib!"

The mayor was asit in his office with eyes closed (his office was the former Hall of the Glorious leader), when a very fat dwarf entered the room.

"How can i help you?" - he asked, and then added - "comrade?"
"Oh, i'm sorry, Comrade Arzeskib! I had a letter sent to you, on one, hm, unusual finding. Did you have time to read it?"

Mayor had no time for reading. After the goblin raid they hardly had time to eat and sleep. Most of the time was hauling corpses and cleaning the halls.
All of the fort's founders were dead in battle, having taught to the newcomers. He was the mayor, but even he did not know much beyond that they were to call each other "comrade", work together, build "communism" and stay aside from the Mountainhomes for some reasons. That was definitely not enough to make a successfull fortress. And that new outpost liason looked like he was so happy to see corpses and despair everywhere! Mayor would have killed him for his smile when he offered to send a squad of Royal Guard to their fort and suggested that one of baron's sons could "clean up" here a bit. No! Despite his ignorance, he knew for sure that Cuborator does not belong to any of baron's sons. It must belong to the workers!

"Comrade Mayor" - he heard again, and the voice was getting worried - "Did you read my message?"

"No, not yet. What's the matter with it, comrade?"

"It's about this, ehhp, book." - the fat dwarf put a heap of paper and parchment and rags on the basalt table. I have found it in the carpenter's workshop, i'm a carpenter, you know. Kib the carpenter."
Kib winked and continued. He was looking nervous and he was making funny sounds when he took his breath to speak.
"It, ehhp, looks missing a few pages, and i'm not a great reader, ehhp. I think it's by one of the Founders.

Mayor took the largest and the least torn sheet of paper. It contained endless drawings of hammers, picks, hooks, shovels and other tools, sometimes intercrossed with eash other. Some images were underlined or circled. There were also several short poemsstrange piece of poetry on the paper - they looked like crude translations and none of them had any pace or rhymes.
"This is the old world. /
All sufferring of craftsdwarves is of highest magnitude./
It is adorned with hanging rings of violence/
And menaces with spikes of exploitation./
On the world are images of awfully designed kingdoms/ - this line was written in different handwriting and in different colour.
The old world is slated for removal/
To build the new world is our labour/
We will spurn the dust and win the prize."

"What is it? It doesn't make much sence" - said Kib.
"Wait, here's a signature" - said mayor. "It reads E.Pottier tr. b. nevyn&nanomage. Nevyn and Nanomage! it's a translation by the Founders!"

Mayor was looking through the other sheets, excitedly.
"Look here! That's not all poetry, these are two pages of the In defence of Hugoism and this is The New Course. And there are some texts by others as well! "
A small scroll fell down from the heap of rags and torn paper and rolled on the smooth floor. The fat carpenter bent down, lifted it and read the title
"The lessons of Hematite."

cuborator is hardly crawling at my laptop, and due to the general lack of time i only played to the late spring yet.

a thorough report will be tonight, and here's a small update with the agenda!

Inspired by the newly discovered books and articles of the founders, the mayor is starting the reforms to build the society of the future!
Who will become the new People's Comissar for Military Affairs and People's Comissar for Labour and Industry? Claim the dwarves!
The justice and penitiary reforms are pending, too!
However, the more he is into the study of the texts and books, the less sense they seem to make for him!
Meanwhile, some of the fortress citizens have their own plan to save the motherland! They found a new group within the fortress to overthrow the mayou and replace him with their own leader!
...And there always are the Gaschist hordes of goblins dreaming to bring slavery and death upon the dwarves of cuborator.
Dwarven king with his lords and generals will not defend the workers - they'll only laugh as goblins break the will and bones of the outpost.

Ah, and yes, our People's Comissar for Trade has gone posessed and made an artifact!

I volunteer a dwarf for Peoples' Commissar of Military affairs:

Bhrian Bloodadze. He believes that to fight the noblists, complete obedience is required to the will of the Council, saying not for personal power of course but for the safety of all you comrades, you understand. Those nobles were overbearing and not letting the people decide their own course and what to do with their resources, so with your comrades' utter obedience to the good mayor and his council we can fight him!

Bhrian is not the brightest of them all, but his mighty strictness shall train the dwarves until the Enemy trembles at even a novice cheesemaker of Cuborator!

Here's a darf for you Hugo:

Here's my report.
-
First of all, seeing that the People's army is weak, untrained and poorly supplied, I chose to prohibit all outdoor activities.I disbanded the entire military, dismissed all outdoor activity zones and forbade anything lying out side.
Military reform is to be completed later when our new steelmaking industry provides us with enough quality weapons and armor, but right now cuborator needs every pair of hands to clean up.

Right now the only dwarf to train in military is our new People's Commissar for Military Affairs,  Bhrian Bloodadze.

I also started a labour reform, because horrible inefficiency of everyone doing everything vastly outweighs the communal feel it may give to our dwarves. I also ordered to stall food and furniture production and to stop smoothing everything except the People's Hall of Well-fare. I also checked the stockpiles and it turned out we had statues of two of the founders, HugoLuman and Nanomage, stockpiled in great quantities. I ordered one of each statues to be put on display in the Hall. The People's Hall is now furnished as dining room and our dwarves meet there. Distasteful capitalistic job title of manager is replaced by People's Commissar for Labour and Industry.
On the industry part, I've ordered mass mining and smelting of Hematite ore and queued up production of pig iron and steel bars. By the middle of summer our steel armor production is already running and the People's Army will have its first steel-clad heavy infantry squad.

The corpses and trush that were cluttering the Fort are partly thrown into the volcano, partly sold to Elven traders in exchange for exotic animals and cages and drinks. (Second Phoenix, female unfortunately).
Our broker was promoted to the People's Commissar for Trade, but that was too much of a responsibility for him. He got soon posessed and used a precious emerald to carve a crown out of it. While i don't believe he may have betrayed us and have become a Royalist, I just couldn't ignore the insult. I wasn't too harsh either. He is freed from his duty and put to work as a furnace operator under our close attention.

Right after the elven caravan, a goblin siege has come, with an elite bowgob and a squad of trolls.
Two dwarves died repelling the siege, and two others - outpost liaison and a soldier - lost consciousness on top of the cage traps and were caged. The siege was repelled just in time for the next migrant wave to come.

The evil spirits of deceased royals infest our comrades against their will? We must have a people's commissar of supernatural affairs to deal with this!

Also, good to hear that our mighty military machine is soon to be running. The mighty army of Workerperfect shall repel the nationalistic Gaxcist threat!

EDIT: updated the post with save and more detail.

I deconstructed my coffin and threw my corpse into magma, hoping that i can return to power as a murderous and brutal ghost, an undead dictator with nothing human dwarven in his sinister soul. Alas, no way, nanomage's ghost didn't take care to rise. Looks like his spirit is content with what the new mayor does, so i should be content too.
well, cuborator is alive and has roughly 68 dwarves.
Due to a summer siege and absent-mindedness i forgot to let the elven caravan exit fortress. They all went insane and i locked them in a narrow cavern pass. Only one yak (Friendly is alive).
I've cleaned up the fort from corpses and stuff, got rid of useless crap, reorganized the stockpiles and, moar stairwells and hallways and planted more cage traps.
Dormitories have been reorganized in a kind of hybrid bedroom/dormitory chamber, with each dwarf having a personal 3*3 space around a bed (with a cabinet!) in a huge communal sleeping hall.
Huge hall with the well i made into a dining room.
I also tried producing huge loads of bins hoping it will help coping with inefficient storage system, but i don't think i had any success here.
Trading with humans and dwarves was successfull, but edru fellow refused animal products saying something about poor creature you dwarves had tortured them to death or something. They are no better than elves i guess. Bloody manichaeans.

Two artifacts, a 94k emerald crown encircled with emerald, and a 14.4k obsidian bracelet. No images too.

Trained new soldiers a bit by torturing gaschist prisoners with training spears.
as the fort stands on granite, 1st, it is besieged by 4 or 5 squads of gaschists, with one squad of trolls and one squad of gaschist sturmgewehrgoblins already eliminated. We are safe as long as the gate is closed.
we have 5 soldiers now, 3 are dead after the first battle with trolls and crossbowgobs. We have enough steel equipment for 12 dwarves. Two conscripts died in siege because of my stupidity
We can't fight them all at once (well at least i wouldn't dare), but it's possible to send them fleeing if our two crossbowdwarves shoot enough goblins from the fortifications above. Beware the elite bowgob, although his squad is wandering somewhere far away for now.
Or you can reload the cage traps and lure the next squad or two, backuping with veteran military and conscripts, and so on.
It may seem scary, but i believe the siege can be defeated without much effort before the migrants come.

Bloody Edru. What's the point of an extra caravan if we can't sell all our bone jewelry to them? These fungi seem to be lacking in proletariat backbone!

Sounds like the fort is on the up and up! Our comrades rise higher than ever before!

fort is okay, although it's sealed of for now because goblins are too many to engage them in melee. Players are over, if you want to be one, pick the save and play.
As there's noone playing right now you can just rename our Junior Commissar for Supernatural Affairs yourself.
