It means the shit comes out of your mouth or something :V

This literally occurs when someone casts 'Oroanal' on you.

I only wish I were making this up.  :'(

Ahhh...btw the something awful review doesn't do the horribleness justice :-

- the spell fumble where you uncontrollably fist your targets ass, no matter the race or gender.
- the demon aura which makes wild butt-sex happen to everyone around you in x' feet radius. You can't turn this off, it's an innate Anakim power you roll on a table when creating the character.
- the section on rape where the male never gets punished harshly but the woman/victim does.
(rapist only gets reported 20% of time, and THEN only convicted 20% of time. And the MOST the FATAL-world judge can give you is 30 days in prison. The woman, on the other hand is described as being thrown out of the house by her father or husband, and can never marry again, becoming a social pariah forever).

BTW: The game contains rules for rape, really pages and pages worth, but no rules on dating.

And...

- Female characters in the examples with names like "cuntrina", who are refered to as "sluts" or "whores". Almost every female profession are referred to as actually being whores in-game (barmaids, regular maids etc)

We could play this as a joke, and I'm no prude or anything, but there's some seriously offensively sexist material here, so that might take the 'fun' out of poking fun.

In subterranean troll society the court uses magic to determine the truth of a crime, and if found guilt of rape then the perpetrator is kneed in the groin by the victim until the victim is satisfied that justice has been done. I think that's a pretty awesome legal system.

Not to mention the "racist armor". It's a few sets of armor mentioned in the manual that seemingly have no in-game purpose, since they actually handicap your character when worn. So why is it in the manual? Each set of armor is based on a horrible racial stereotype, with an absolutely cringe-inducing description. It's disgusting and hateful, to the point that I don't want to mention any of the specifics here.

So, uh... are you sure you want to run a game of FATAL? I'm serious, even the bile fascination isn't worth it.

If we play this thing, it will be a historical event.

I think the thing was written more as a joke or a challange or so.

God DAMN I love this game!

Byron Hall, founder of Fatal Games, that's who.

The FATAL manual has a picture and bio of him at the end.

Why?  Perhaps it is obsessive compulsive rhetorical irony.
I hope.

GENNING A CHARACTER TAKES SO LONG.
It's terribly organised. It was fun for a while, but about 400 pages in it gets really dull.
Also, I don't think it'd be that fun to play in a game as a character who turns to stone immediately in sunlight and is a part of a culture that hates any other races and basically sticks to itself all the time. Additionally, subterranean trolls are powerful enough as a society to not have any massive problems come their way.

Even the character sheet is hard to use due to its layout. There aren't cells for important information and groups of information can be scattered around. I'm not sure I can be bothered :P

Initially I thought it might be fun, but now seeing the excessiveness of the rules, there's not really a point playing. It won't be fun to have to read several pages of rules and considerations every time you want to do anything.

I'd play but I have neither the guts, willpower or the familiararity with pen and paper roleplaying to play. I will watch though. And laugh. Oh how I will laugh.

I belive TVTropes has a comment on how bad it is in the Understatment artcile somewhere saying sothething like 'Saying it should be burned in a fire is an insult to fire'.

Finally I was skimming through the manual when I noticed that the article on ripped orifaces only mentions two orifaces. Guess which ones. The game seems to be built to ensure every encounter plays out like a porn movie of the 'Oh god, I've lost all faith in humanity' kind.

(Edit) The sexuality tables, oh the sexuality tables! Breast size and species help to detirmine sexuality! My mind! Why did I read this!

I actually read that review before a few years back. ^^ I read it at a different website, but that went down and I thought it was lost forever. Glad to see it again.

Things that make me not happy: The #1 reason they won't review FATAL. I swear if this ever does get started I'm going to completely subvert the rules and just play it like an overly complicated game of D&D or something.

I read the review, it's hilarious and depressing at the same time. The best part: Rolling high charisma for a female character decreases weight and strength and increases breast size. According to the reviewers: "It's nice to know the ideal FATAL girl is a death camp survivor with a basketball under each nipple."

Even the acknowledgment can break your mind.

"I'd like to thanks François Dube-Berthiaume for suggestions regarding revivication, urination and historical accuracy.

And most of all, I'd like to thanks myself."

I thought about it. I don't think I can do it anymore. Initially I had only vague memories of the review totally thrashing the game for being God-awful. I thought it might be a challenge. After reading the rules and the review again, I just don't think I can handle it. And then you have to admit to yourself and everyone who knows you, once it's over, that you played a game of FATAL. So, yeah. I'll keep an eye on it to see what happens, but there's no way in hell I'm going to be an active participant. :-\ Sometimes you just gotta realize that if there are things mankind is not meant to know, then you should just leave 'em alone. Like FATAL.

Damn. It destroyed me before we even found a GM. It's such an awful game.

I actually thoug something like "well, I may give it a try". And seriously, I think not. I can cope with handless amount of anal raping, but FATAL and it's intricate, obscure, stupid rules is too much for me.

This exactly. This is why I went from my initial desire to try it for the sake of trying it to my current state of being done with the system. It's not even that character generation is complex, but that I know that even after I've gotten to grips with it enough to gen a character, the rules I've just spent hours trying to figure out are those that govern gameplay, and that just isn't good enough.
