Although all crops are now dark red (unplantable) in late autumn, I still have a several "plant seeds" jobs that farmers are still performing.

I think that Toady has mentioned before that if you've got inexperienced farmers, they'll occasionally plant the crops late (causing them to die in the ground.)

This might be intended.

Once they show as dark red, it should mean that the farming knowledge has diffused through the population.  Perhaps the check isn't applied often enough.
