Your first titan

Well, what was your first titan like?
Since I'm fairly new I just was attacked by my first one today, it was made entirely of salt and was taken down by a couple punches and a stab.

Mamma's gonna tan you a troll leather thong.
And if that thong don't menace with spikes,
Mamma's gonna kill you whatever you like...

Not sure; I think I encountered it when DF 0.31.04 came out.  All I know is I took the caverns much more seriously after that point.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

I do not know about titans, but my first big visiting monster was memorable. It was a few releases before 40d, and my first successful fort, I got the announcement some dragon with a really long name had arrived. I thought it was going to fly over the wall, and devour the populace. Much to my pleasure, and amazement, a cage trap got it.
Boy, I was proud of it. Especially since the dungeon master could tame it. Well after my future guard dragon got tamed, it managed to crispyfy numerous dwarves, except the dm, who it loved. With the only dwarf alive being the DM, finally abandoned the fort. I always hoped that dm would go visit elf villages, spreading fiery love with his new pet.

Should you fail to comply, strict !!disciplinary actions!! will be taken. Also, we feel we should remind you that one of the "criminals" on your list is the chief medical dwarf. If he ends up too badly injured to do his job, you will be fired. Out of a magma cannon.

I have encounter a grand total of ONE titan since I've been playing. And it single-handedly wiped out my entire fort.

I don't think I've ever gotten an actual titan, but the first FB I encountered was sealed off in the caverns for months because I didn't even want to look at it sideways.

There was a mining incident that was completely not my fault at all.... and the caves were open. I told some expendable mason to go wall it off, but whatever it was wandered in and got bitten in half by someone's puppy.

Embarrassing.

And then, they will be weaponized. Like everything in this game, from kittens to babies, everything is a potential device of murder.
So if baseless speculation is all we have, we might as well treat it like fact.

My first FB was a giant scaly antelope.
As for a titan, it was some feathered darkling beetle.

My first fortress-destroying, WTF, how-do-I-deal-with-this monster was a Bronze Colossus.

Never had a giant, FB or dragon before that.

Epic battle with untrained militia in front of the force, and at the cost of about a dozen dwarves, it got stunned enough to fall into a cage trap.  Then, a little later, I thought I could sell it, and ordered it brought to my depot.  Unfortunately the animal stockpile was, for some reason, in the dining room.

Did not end well.
