Artifact gems

Can these be used for anything besides sitting around?
It's starting to bother me how useless these are...

I don't even understand how it can have hanging rings of leather...

Large Gems (including Artifact Large Gems) are utterly useless.  Normal Large Gems can be sold to traders, but you can't sell artifacts.

The Display Case mod lets you make a Large Gem (or any other item) into a special 'display case' building, but you need a world regen to install it, you can't install it into an existing world.
