I learnt that one should never, ever become complacent about food and water.
Even when I have 3000 edible food and 500 booze?

I've learned that removing some pieces of the flooring you build over the magma pipe can be useful, as long as you don't touch the supporting floor pieces..

Urist McDoctor recommends a healthy magma bath to minimize the risk for infection.

In one fort I had war elephants riding camels into battle. I can imagine the war elephants taming them simply by picking them up and dropping them in a coral. I still don't understand how you can fit a few ton elephant onto camel though.

Yes definitely not with only 500 booze.

My answer to just about everything is magma. In fact, most threads end up with me running in screaming it

967th Dwarven Law of Insanity:
The chance of dwarves deciding to walk outside to 'store item in bin' is inversely proportional to the number of goblins present on the map.

Seriously, it's getting on my nerves...no one cares about the piles of clothing left all over the map, yet the moment a goblin shows up it's a race to the gate !

Today i learnd that a dwarf with no upper left arm can still hunt and kill every living thing that he gets his hands on and even better is that if he is an legendery hammerdwarf he is unstoppable.
funny tough that it did not say that his lower arm was missing.

I once learned in 40d, that when you butcher a fire imp corpse for culinary experimentation, you get a few pieces of burning meat. Delivered right into the food store. I also learned on this day that booze is highly flammable. FUN ensued. That's just one example. Be worried and be prepared for emergencies. Always. Or the downfall of your fortress will be swift and ridiculous.

I have learned that while spears are an excellent weapon, and steel is amazing armor, nothing quite compares to the brutality of an axe.
