But then, how do I stay awake to do the work that I'm distracted from....

Get more sleep?  Seriously, sleep is important, bro.  Speaking as a sleep-deprived math student here.

@Poo:

You may be right, but I've found that even when I wasn't having anxiety attacks caffeine totally blew my ability to concentrate meaningfully.  Of course, I'm extremely sensitive to it--but if he's chugging Mountain Dew, then I could see him having a lot of problems.

I am nearly completely unable to concentrate when doing things like projects.
And, I procrastinate.

I am conscious that I am procrastinating, but I never seem to be able to break out of it...
Same with the concentration.

I procrastinate everything, then when it isn't much time left I get motivated and do whatever I have to :P I think it's all matter of motivation. I'm unable to concentrate when I have to write an elaboration but in the evening before the deadline I write like mad.

Ditto what vector said.  Get off caffiene.  It will take about 5-6 days for the effects of the last caffiene you had to wear off.  You might have some doozy headaches for those days, but its worth it.  You will discover that MUCH of your behaviour was caffiene induced.  You will probably become more easy going, mellow, calm, focused and will sleep normally.  I quite from it 7 months ago, and feel fantastic and so much more happy.
