My best fort to date.
« on: May 19, 2011, 11:33:50 pm »

Not my oldest. But my wealthiest fort so far. Also my most populous and physicaly largest fort to date. Goes down nearly 50z levels.
My millitary is my next goal as I think im getting close to some caverns.
Working on steel production now.

Just felt like sharing.

You're a bit low on booze there.

This fortress is turning into some kind of supervillain lair or something.
You do remember that you've been farming gigantic wingless dragon-fish for profit and Fun, right?

Right after I posted this I had my first goblin siege. Ended with one death and bunches of injuries.
I set up my hospital right after i saw goblins on the map...

My best combat dwarf ran ahead of every one and got slaughtered in a few seconds.
by showing you my fort I jinxed it. Not five minutes after that original post the fort fell to Gobos.

Is it just high record keeper skill that makes all the food/drink values come in exact like that?  Mine always approximate at one significant figure.

There is a bookkeeper accuracy setting on the nobles screen.

No trappy corridor of doom? My first fort fell to goblins - after that I built a drawbridge, and lowered that only after I had my trap corridor of doom ready. Now goblin sieges are just a chance of target practice for my marksdwarves.

Naked dwarves remove the need to produce more clothing, which means more of your pig tails can be brewed into booze.
I think this is less a problem and more an expression of dwarven priorities.

This was my first gobo siege. I drove away the first group. But to many of my soldiers were left injured since I didn't have my millitary properly equipped. Then not a whole minute after I defeated the first wave of them another came and slaughtered my Military.

Sieges can get quite "interesting" if you're less prepared than you thought you were.  If it wasn't the second siege, then it'd be the third one where you thought you were doing fine until the trolls showed up.  Or the fourth that had twice as many goblins as you thought there would be.  Or the fifth with the leader's entire squad mounted on flying creatures...
And then there's always the various forgotten beasts, or the troubles caused by opening up the caverns...

Ive dealt with caverens before. Those are a bit more controllable. With sealing up parts you're not ready for, easier time laying traps, ect.
But that siege. you're right about all of it.
