Hi,

I am playing with the latest version (31.25), and I would like to downgrade to version 31.16 so I can use the Minecraft visualisation tool, with the utility Dwarf Fortress to Minecraft, which generates a Minecraft world from a Dwarf Fortress running process.

This software doesn't recognize 31.25 so I need to downgrade to version 31.16 or prior, but when I move my region folder in the save folder, it seems like it doesn't recognize it at all.

Any one knows how to do it?

My guess is, you'd have to make a new world in 31.16, since there's new stuff since that version that wasn't in 31.16. Various animal types, reactions, etc. It's a different matter than upgrading because there's stuff in the new-version save file that the old version straight up doesn't know how to process.

You'll have more success trying to find a way to get the Minecraft converter software to recognize the new version.  If you're lucky then it will use an xml file to tell it where to find the embark data in DF's memory pool, and it can be replaced with a newer copy of the file.  If not then maybe someone made better software already

Short answer: you can't downgrade. Not if you want to keep a save you've made in a new version. You can freely make a new world in an older version of course.

That's what I thought indeed... I don't really want to mess with another world, I'll continue with my beautiful 15 years old fortress, I guess I'll have to wait for the converter software to be up to date! Hope I won't have too much FUN in the meantime!
