Female Reindeer are called Reindeer Cows.  This is normal.

I live in Geenland, so It's basically the same thing for me.  :D

And yes. Cows are generally female of most hoofed animals. (I know it dosnt apply to all, I am just trying to.. sound smart?  ??? )

Actually, Cow is female of most large split hoof animals.  Basically anything bigger than a deer, including: elk, moose, reindeer, and bovine (male bovine should not be called "cows", but we do anyway).  Also applied to elephants who don't have hooves (and I am sure also a number of other females animal types).  Deer and smaller are usually doe  - though pigs are split-hooved and go by sow and of course sheep use ewe, while rabbits (no hoof) use doe... but hey, this is english right?  It doesn't have to make sense.
