Zombie Roc... fuuuu
« on: May 18, 2011, 09:30:36 pm »

Quest to kill Roc, except turns out he's a zombie and vanished when I tried to kill him. Any way to complete this quest or can I not get any more quests from that civ?

Just tell them you killed it. Everything will be fine.

But it's on the other side of a large world and I have below average creativity and social awareness... If they don't believe me, no way am I walking across the freaking world again.

In the current version, zombies poof into thin air rather than leaving behind a corpse.

While in the travel view, select "shift+Q" and then "t"asks, if task is done it says "Report death of xxxxxx".

I think that you can report it to anyone who talks to you, so you may not need to get back to original quest giver.

What I'm saying is the Roc vanished during the fight and the quest is left uncompleted with no way to complete it.

Undeads come back after a while.

Just make sure you don't die during that timelapse.

Undeads have a HP system, so it'll die eventually

Do you know the approx. time it takes? And does it just reappear at its lair?

Just tell someone you killed it. You'll get the recognition regardless of whether or not it says the task is completed.

And no, Undead units do NOT come back.

So confused  :'(

The thing is I can't tell someone I killed it because it isn't dead. There is no kill credit in the kill list and the quest is still active.

It is dead.

If the quest's still active, no, it's not :P

Yes they do come back, if they vanished. I was sent to kill a dragon, turned out to be a zombie dragon, hacked its tail off, and it vanished. You can claim the quest, but no the kill, it won't appear neither in your weapon nor in legends.

Then, I retired that adventurer, and while playing a fort, the zombie dragon appeared again. I abandoned the fort and went to kill it with the same adventurer, and it vanished again (vanishing appears to be triggered when you amputate a body part). Again, no kill credit. And in legends, if you check the beast's history, a "in year 1053, Dragon Dragongem the Heat of Dragons vanished in the Happy Hills" appears.

If it vanished, it's not. You can kill them, I know, because I remember killing zombie yetis in some glacier, and getting kill credit. But it seems to be based on the zombie's HP. I spent a good 30 minutes doing stab attacks on the dragon with care not to cut off anything, but it didn't die. I guess fully grown dragons have completely crazy undead HP.

Hammer it in the brain pan. Should work on just about anything.

Anything that is normally a one-shot will score credit and leave a corpse.  Cut it in half, hit the brain.  Reducing it to 0 HP wont. (It goes poof until Toady finishes the current undead stuff)
