The PROTECT IP act. (USA)
« on: May 18, 2011, 08:59:21 pm »

Bill Summary.
News Article.
Full Title: ‘Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property Act of 2011′, also known as S.968.

Its a giant, idiotic attempt to censor or bring down everything in the name of Copyright by making a mess of the DNS, basically. I can't make the description any less biased than that.

Thoughts?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

The Google Chairman is (obviously) against it, but we have 42 dumb (internet-wise, at least) State Attorneys according to this article, unfortunately.

Besides that, though, I do not see this having a ice cube's chance in hell of working once we have IPv6 to deal with. (Not that it has much better chances right now, either)

Because OUR copyrights mean more than YOUR human rights!

I am deeply saddened by this shit excuse of a filter.

The filter will not work out as planned. For a start, you cannot filter out every torrent or piracy website as only more will be made and secondly, this will probably slow down America's internet significantly.

As if it wasn't bad enough that they can already surveil all our internet activity. I'll have to find out who is for and against this stuff once I reach voting age.
