Ghazkull, I realize there is plenty of players and adding more would just mean this game would collapse under it's own weight.

So I'm not going to join.

But let me tell you it looks awesome so far, and if you need someone to impersonate a NPC (not for too long, I'm supposed to have exams soon), send me a PM. I may not be a CyberGenesis-level manipulators, but I think I'm still pretty good (EG: John still believe I was standing by him while my vassals were invazding him with armies I financed.)

But have a monopoly on all the metal is still a bounus, no matter what. It will be a big factor.

well shit...i hope you don't mind if i add you next season because i just finished the pictures :-\

the problem with the map is that i cant save it which i just realized... this means every turn i have to do the whole crap anew  :P
so don't wonder why turns sometimes will take longer...ok Sheb i will inform you as soon as some interesting spots free up...
on another note i encourage naming of stuff especially the Provinces as Eastern Coast and northern mountains sounds crap...

Season 0 Year 0

Finally you all have reached your chosen spots and hastily a few tents were errected and for you of course a modest manor...

Taric is in my retinue. ^^ The only other thing is it looks like the picture in my status is the swamp but it says mountain in the spoiler title. (I'd prefer the swamp so I'm going to assume that's where I am.) :3

"We shall name this land Darmad-Ilda! Taric, take half the men and cut trees; we need lumber to build adequate shelter for everyone. I will take the other half and drain the swamps, so we may begin building a thriving farm industry as soon as possible." Toman entered his manor to look through his books for a Cult-approved spell for draining water. If he couldn't find one, he'd have to come up another way to do it... which meant assigning Taric the job. He was a lot more creative when it came to problems; Toman himself tended to just go for the most obvious solution and hammer away until it worked or he was forced to try something else.

Darmad-Ilda being DF-Human for Grand Liberty. ^^

"Yes M'lord" Taric started rounding up anyone capable of actually capable of cutting down a tree, assigning 15 woodcuttters and the rest of the assigned men as haulers.

“Why yes Mr Gaerlyn. I put at your disposal 30 men and what ever funds you need, the treasury is open.

To Squire Yeskly I will assign 10 men for him and the two other fighting men to train into the first fighting force if he accepts the responsibility.

Then I will take 40 men to the field to sow the grain and plant the crops.

The last 20 men will be assigned to building longer term housing.

I will also keep a eye out for a suitable wife, and then woo her into marrying me.”

I assume that actions lead by the player (so making the fishing boats, but not making the housing) have a bonus of some sort?

We shall name this land the "Luger Mountains"!

Begin by cutting food rations of all (Including me) to the least amount possible. Explain my actions by saying that we need to conserve food in order to survive in the harsh land. This will make the food ration more withstandable for the future.

Set 30 people under my command to start Farming the harsh soil.

Train five citizens to Milita. Set two milita to patrol the camp and keep on the eye out for attackers.

15 citizens begin a wood cutting operation. Send the knight to protect them from hostile wild-life or bandits.

The Remaining 50 to Mine! We need those metals quickly, if we are to gain the advantage over the others.

i live in sweden and you know where the vikings found iron?bog iron, lakes, iron have an tendancy to assemble on the bottom so i doubt that you will have monopoly.
Still, a good large percentage of metal is inside Mountains. Even IF the others can mine and get metals, I will still be sitting on the majority of it. The Farmland is awful and their are quite a few unknown dangers, but the reward of having a very large percentage of the metal is worth it. And if you do not think so, you must be an idiot.

And I have not said the Mountains are the "Best" place to start. As I said, Farming will be difficult and there will most likely be far more dangers then what the OP says. The exchange is for *plenty* of valuable metals.
And personally, I think Serious will be more focaused on the fertile Farmland then the Metals under it. After all, the more he digs for metals that may or may not be there, the less farmland he will have.
Also, Bog Iron forms in swamps, and their are no Swamps in Scandinavia*. So, that does not make sense. And we do not have the technology to do lake diving, so I do not think "Bog Iron" will be much of a threat to my almost complete monopoly.

*If you do not know what this is, you do not live in Sweden.

I cannot even read that link, and the English version gives me something very different.
And that is still Wikipedia. Whats to say you didn't just edit that page, or give me a false translation?

And even if that is right, you have proved nothing. Cript cannot have metals, seeing as there is no reason for metals to be there (Thats the OCEAN, not a lake.), and Serious would better spend his time farming for food and cash crops then searching for small stray iron depos that may or may not exist in this game.
And I still have a very large amount of the Metal. And not just IRON, but also Copper, Gold, Platinum, and many other metals. Copper can be smelted into Bronze, which is a better metal then Iron. And gold, well, you can guess the obvious advantages of THAT. As for Platinum, well, it may not be worth much now, but back then? Worth Truckloads.

So I still got a huge advantage. Hell, even Cript and Serious acknowledge it. But they have their own advantages. Cript has easier access to trade and Serious has great farmland. I know those advantages and take them into account. An idiot thinks that another mans good advantages are very small. Because, even if they aren't as big as he says they are, they are still good advantages.

Cript has access to metals Via trade to the outside world, Heck Im think his stance on free trade will hurt him due to the fact he won't collect tariffs and such on the goods.
