Deepest Embark
« on: May 17, 2011, 09:16:32 am »

Since playing 2010 I have had a lot of 250 Z-level fortresses, and I have heard of a lot of very deep sites due to bugs or bizarre terrain. However I have never genned a bottomless embark site until today. It is 1470 Z-levels deep, and takes a fair amount of time to scroll up and down the entire height.

Have many other people genned a 1000+ site? And if anyone has played one, could you tell me if my subterranean features will be appropriately (and awkwardly) spaced out? Or if 900 of these levels will be slade?

Upload the map so we can make awesome things out of it.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

DF reveal on a one-freaking-thousand level high embark?
BRACE FOR IMPACT!

Joke aside, don't forget to backup it first, and I support the "share the map" motion :)

I want to see what happens if you drop a dwarf 1470 Z levels. Will they die of hunger first, or will their explosively-pressurized blood penetrate the rock, creating a blood aquifer?

I support the upload map idea.  I really want to see that thing. :D

Thought i found a really nice place, but it kept crashing on embark.
Solved it by decreasing embark area to 2X2. :P

Would be a nice place to built a sacrificial tower or a space elevator.

Now this is TOO much... I shudder just by thinking of the amount of pumps needed for a magma pump stack.

Oh o I unrevealed it and that would not be the Problem as the magma starts as low as  lvl -40. But below there are more than eight thousand levels of unspeakable madness.

I would dig a huge pit from top to bottom and at the bottom keep some animals stationed at all times to "catch" incoming dwarfs on the express elevator; dwarfs can be dropped with a retracting bridge.

Sorry, I have been at the top end of Australia for the last week and forgot entirely about this thread. Fortunately I still have the file and will be uploading it shortly for those still interested.

EDIT: Uploaded as 1400 Deep Embark. Hopefully there is some interest, though it seems unlikely after finding an 8000 deep embark.
