but magma in fountain is not directly affected by pumps. Is a pump able to drive magma through an U-bend?

Yes, it most definitely can. Pressurized magma acts the same as pressurized water, near as I can tell, having just done exactly that to fill my magma reservoir. (Also, no, it was not a good idea.)

Water flows faster when pressurized. magma does not.
