40d.

Embarked on a terrifying biome.  the starting seven are immediately set upon by beak dogs, and what they didn't get, the harpies finished off. Didn't even last half a season...

Still, being slapped to death by a bat with a sock, is the most humliiating.

Park the wagon in a terrifying biome, zombie carp come crawling from the river. Not as scary as they used to be, so we kill them all.
Cue zombie giant badgers. :'(

Irony bonus! +5 points!

At least there were no skeletal elephants.

I got one of those buggy embarks once,  found myself on the very rim of a nice mountainous volcano (awesome! no wagon though), unpaused and everyone was instantly either crushed or thrown into the volcano A SECTION OF THE CAVERN HAS COLLAPSED. Fort lasted the length of the fall to the magma sea.

Playing with the temperature minimum and maximum in your custom world_gen does the trick for a really quick death for your fortresses.

Extreme cold leads to the quickest death; extreme heat lasts a bit longer, but is by far more spectacular.

You really got to see these yourself. Go for the highest number allowed in these fields of your advanced parameters, then embark close to the poles.

I recently embarked onto a haunted mountain cliff face next to an untamed wild dry broadleaf forest. I had just designated trees to be cut down, plants be picked and drawn up plans for the architecture of the fort when I was greeted by a pack of skeletal yaks who subsequently started to mow down my dwarves. A few seconds later I was left with one miner who I had put inside what little of the fort had been dug out. Several attempts were made to lock him inside with only his pickaxe and stones by walling off the entrance but tantrums made it impossible. Soon he would venture outside and get slaughtered as the fort crumbled into dust after having embarked a couple of days earlier. A reclaim was in order.

The reclamation was a success but those skeletal yaks had gotten skeletal giant eagle reinforcements. So now I'm stuck here evading skeletal yaks of death and skeletal eagle air raids while trying to figure out what to do with the six or so starving elephants I have stuck in one cage.

My wagon spawned in the middle of a herd of badgers...

My dorfs were dead in less than an in game day...

A clan of badgers. Not a herd.
The reason for that should be clear...

i once dug away a z-level from under my wagon, made a meeting hall down there and collapsed a soil block upon the head of my dwarves. It took some time though, giant badgers could have done it faster.

I prefer embarking on a water source, so my quick fort deaths are usually alligator-related.

pack of 8-10 beak dogs pecked all seven of us to death before we had a hole dug to put the food in.

Back in 40d, before I learned to pause before taking my first look around the map (or turn on pause on load in init.txt), a werewolf tore all 7 dwarves to shreds before i had even deconstructed the wagon.  Same thing has happened a few times with hippos, whenever I go for tropical riparian.

Embarked in a nice innocent happy grassland.

Game freezes instantly...

*CAVE IN*

"WHAT THE-" *Dwarves simultaneously fall into the magma sea*

I have not, to this day, found out what caused it.

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

Modify game files... Hmm... I want to build on a glacier. Let's make the whole map really cold, with it just temperate at the very edge.

*GENERATE*

Hmm... all glaciers. OK, let's embark right here, along this coast.

*EMBARK*

Urist McEmbark has frozen to death x7

Turns out the surface temperatures were far, far below absolute zero.

Elves. REAL dwarves would have taken a bath in magma!
