Whelp I got REALLY lucky and managed to get ahold of a weapon that outdated nearly all of my equipment.

I still need a hardmode buddy.

The thing is that the two slowest parts of the game is the start and the end.

The mid point is actually quite brisk because there isn't anything all that impossible to find.

Since you go for the Shadow gear, then the meteor gear / Dungeon Gear, then the hell gear... Then you are done the mid point. Yet all of those are relatively easy to find compared to finding gold, silver, and copper (plus the new stuff) gear.

Mind you I keep almost all my things...

Is it odd that Meteor gear usually takes me into hardmode. And it typically goes something like iron/silver/gold armor, meteor, hardmode? And yes. Two meteors are relatively easy to mine out and find, and will give you enough bars for everything. And you can get that before you fight either the brain or the worm.

So, after hearing all this "0.25% spawn rate, it takes days of gameplay to get a drop!" stuff, I farm in the underground snow for about 20 minutes and get a frozen key drop. Chest loot had normal crap, plus:

My guess from that is that the new chests will have one rare bit of loot from the "general" category of the new keyed chests, and one rare item themed after the biome the key was from. One sample isn't enough to be certain, of course, but it is an odd coincidence.

The Brain I consider to be the exact same strategy as eye of Cthulhu.

Namely that you need multihit even at the expense of overall damage.

the first time, mainly because 1.2 is super laggy and stuttery for me for god knows what reason and I couldn't get out of the bloody spider caves so the

did a number on me and the second form finished the job. I might need to enlist help to kill the other bosses because it just gets ridiculous with lag. Steam rolled him second round out in the open though.

They really need to fix the performance issues. I more than met the recommended requirements when the game first came out. It ran perfectly smoothly. Now with each update it gets worse and worse.

I've seen Tiki gear in assets, does anyone know where does it drop?

Also the new HFS from jungle which can be mined with a special pickaxe only is a great griefing tool... and it's also great to build almost indestructable mazes and stuff for adventure maps, so I look forward to it.

which obliterates everything on the ground. A great tool to farm stuff, especially during eclipse/blood moon.

AHHH!!! I manage to kill one of the bosses (hard mode bosses) Finally, but he was underground so I got nothing.

Though I immediately fought another boss.

I am finally hard mode boss ready. Thanks to the fact that 1.2 lets you get "Post-hardmode boss" tier... That and my great weapon.

I'm kinda' wonderin'... how's each damage type stack up against each other, so far? Especially in the late game. I'm definitely noticing that magic has gotten a serious upgrade compared to before 1.2. So far, the best ranged (damage) I've found has been next tier shotguns, with melee being... more arguable. The temple boomerang-equivalent is definitely incredibly powerful, though, and most of the other melee-damage stuff I've found to be comparatively lackluster (barring, perhaps, some of the spears vs. larger monsters)

But, right now, magic's the only way I've found to kill wyverns with two shots.

What are y'all finding to be the most ridiculous of ridiculous things, so far?

I found a Beam Sword that has like 61 attack from the first armored skeleton I killed right after I got to hard mode it pretty amazing it also shots a blade of light from it.
