I don't think lag is too bad when it comes to Terraria servers. I've never had much of an issue with it myself, but maybe other people will have horror stories of uber-lag.

Once I do release the info just keep in mind that this is all in testing phase as this is all new hardware and software so the server may have to come down sometimes for updates or configuration changes. This isn't just a simple PC.

We're actually thinking about using esx to set up a virtual windows session for terraria so we don't have to bring the whole server down for updates to windows and interrupt the other services. This is also where our private minecraft server will be hosted, as well as our teamspeak and such. Either way we should be stable by saturday whichever way we decide to do it.

Rules of Some New Terraria Bay12 Server:

1.Do not turn the world into hardmode.
1a.Unless whole server ultimately agrees to it.
1b.Except in cases covered by 1a, accidentally triggering the WoF because of a voodoo demon does not mean people should stay and fight the thing. Magic mirror or retreat.
2.Dynamite is banned, bombs are permitted only for underground mining.
3.No griefing, obviously. Respect your fellow players, consarnit.
4.No items from outside the server, which means we start with fresh characters.
5.Obviously, don't flaunt the password to outsiders.

Enough rules?

Might as well make sure we don't get another thing like we got with my last server.

I can't guarantee everything will go well or that it will come up right away... I'll be working on it once I get home If not, it will be tomorrow. Once I have the server configured I'll install terraria and start it up and if I finish tonight I'll send out the information.

Alright.

I am tentatively placing the server up and allowing public connections. I am sending a PM to everyone who expressed interest. If you don't get one in the next 10 minutes please send me a PM so I can send it to you.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

1. This is new hardware. It is currently undergoing testing and heavy scrutiny. It may be brought down with little or no warning to make changes. This testing state will continue until Saturday, whereupon if it is working correctly and stable it will be left up 24/7 and only brought down for scheduled maintenance or emergencies.
2. The current limit is 8 players. This will change tonight if everything seems stable.
3. This is a fresh start server, as I said. Please don't cheat. If you can't play without cheating, stick to singleplayer.
4. We built a couple of minor things during testing so don't tear anything down that you didn't make.
