Kamina-potato is the most badass potato.
Because of course all shades are Kamina shades.
Is it baddass enough to make up for the missing half a potato, though?

You know what I find odd? Adamantine is actually easier to find then Mithril. by a large margin.

That's because it can show up in the ceiling of the underworld. Apart from that, I usually have massive trouble finding adamantite.

Odd, just go to the lava stage and move left or right. honestly you will find more Adamantine then Mithril at that level.

It's odd, I haven't had any special events in any version prior to 1.1.1. After finally reinstalling Steam after a hard drive crash lost all of my games (luckily, it was just a mostly empty drive that contained Steam and a few other games), I get an EoC showing up all by itself. I get a blood moon shortly after. THIS is what every night should be like. 'Twas a bit of a clickfest, but it was fun.

Got a few blood moons.  Decided to repair my base, but any clown bombs that hit dirt would be patched with snow blocks.

It is now a winter wonderland.

I'll probably just wind up making my house out of dungeon bricks if the clowns become too bothersome. I've had three thus far, and the damage has been minimal, so I'll keep on with the candy cane fortress.

Q: Do clowns appear underground (specifically, just slightly below 0ft depth.)? I'd like to confirm before I turn my world into a hardmode mess.

Clowns do not spawn underground, however if you're close to the surface they may spawn on the surface and fall down.  I'd go -200 or further for safety.

They are not as bad as people make them out to be.
Honestly, I have only seem them during a blood moon, and when they come up I just pack my stuff and leave home for the night, go clown hunting. They never troubled me.

This is true, they don't spawn underground and if you're away from home then you probably don't care about bomb holes.  They're blood-moon only, fairly rare, and have a slow rate of fire.  I might see 3-4 in a moon, and get 3-6 bombs thrown, which are the same explosive size as a player's bomb.  They will, however, throw them endlessly.  If you're hiding under the floorboards, they'll freely throw bombs until dawn, so you need to take care of them, rather than the zombies which you can safely ignore.

Although I must still encourage an underground base.  Dwarf up, get diggy.
