I just got a goblin invasion...in hardmode and me having an Assault Rifle and 500 crystal bullets. I didnt even have to aim, the crystal shrapnel would just kill them. It was actually kinda sad.

I imagine they attempted to do a last-ditch revenge attack on the monter who destroyed the world, before they would all get killed between all the corruption and hallow guys. And they failed horribly. The once mighty goblin empire has fallen, their homes soon turned into corruption or the hallow, with all traces of them destroyed.
Yeah, I had a Megashark. It was almost painful to watch them get murdered.

There was a friend on my server who was afk at the time it happened, and in full Adamntite armour. He just stood there and regenerated health faster than they could deal it. It's just a chore killing them now, they pose no threat whatsoever.

I just raided my dungeon looking for a muramasa. I found two cobalt shields, three aqua scepters, four magic missiles, and basically everything else before I found it. The one muramasa in the dungeon was legendary. I am going to murder everything with it.

That's a shame. You'd think that the goblins would also get a hard-mode boost. I remember that fighting them was both fun and slightly terrifying. THEY. JUST. KEPT. COMING.

Just fought the wall of flesh wearing full addy gear, his lasers were doing 1 damage haha, and yet I still can't kill the twins or skeletron prime :(. It seems weird that the hardmode version of the easiest boss is now the hardest boss in the game.

The key, you say? Further, you're using the key to open the barriers between Terraria's world, and the hallow and corruption dimensions...

It's no wonder the goblins are attacking you. Their sorcerors might have some way to undo or neutralize what you've done, if they can only capture or kill you. (Or pre-emptively attack to stop you, because they know who you're working with, and "[they] know what you're doing and [they] aren't going to let you get away with it" (Quoth paypal out of context for the lulz))

Also note that each tile of a statue has a separate cooldown, so if you wire it right the 10-second cooldown statues can emit like six of their thing every ten seconds.
Ooo, nice. Didn't know this, now i can set up my slime factory to run EVEN FASTER (not that i need more gel, i have like 1500 in my inventory). Though i assume you can only get up to triple spawn rate, since wires automatically connect to orthogonally adjacent ones? Can't imagine how it'd work otherwise.

 Nah, spawn rates for creatures remains at three onscreen at a time. You can make them spawn a lot quicker, but you'll have to match how fast they spawn with how fast they die. Lava works bets for this.

... five. Not three. Unless the statues have something special as far as that goes. I've definitely had up to five g'damn whoreagles on the screen at the same time, in any case. Might be the whoreagles that are special cased, hrm...

There aren't any herpes statues though. Statues only have a maxspawn of 3.

 I have never gotten slimes, bunnies or goldfish to spawn more than three at a time.

 Not a problem when they spawn in lava.

Yeah, was talking about natural spawns, not statue-based ones. Haven't messed with the statues any. Haven't actually found any, except one angel statue, honestly.

I personally use dart traps to kill them, because it's just way cooler. No wait, what am i saying? THIS IS MAGMA WE'RE TALKING ABOUT. I should rig up all the magma.
