Beachwear should clearly give more protection than regular armour of the same material. Because that's how armour works.

Heh, I can't imagine how painful a pair of Molten speedos would be, for all parties involved.

Hightlights:

Quote
There are 39 new monsters, including 4 brand new bosses. We've got three new NPCs, all waiting to be rescued. And for the loot obsessed, there are 222 new items, including 4 sets of armor, and 21 accessories.

Yummy.

Quote
Starting hard mode is pretty straight forward. Go to hell, take revenge on the guide for all the times he let the slimes in your house, and destroy a giant creature made out of left over body parts that pukes up worms and shoot lasers out of it's eyes.

When that simple task is completed, your world will change. There will be new challenges and tougher enemies to face. You will probably die. A lot. And you will have a blast doing it.

So like....it's a boss you have to kill and the guide has to get murdered as part of the process? Interesting. Kind of poetic hard mode starts with the death of the helper NPC.

Quote
There is now a NPC housing interface. It's pretty simple, but allows full control over where your NPCs live, and it will even tell you if their living area is missing some of the requirements.

Awesome. Now making homes for your NPCs is a science, not a mixture of guessing and prayer.

Pumps!

Sweeeeet. I'm not even really into plumbing that much, but it will kill hours rigging pumping systems to clear out underground lakes, just for shits and giggles.

Quote
Weapons and accessories now have random conditions that improve their attributes.

I'm going to catch flak for this, but meh. It's going to add to the game, I'm just weary of Diablo item schemes.

Quote
This can work both ways, however.

Well, at least that's something. Not that anyone will really use those items....especially when....

Quote
Don't worry too much, as one of the new NPCs will allow you to reforge an item to change it's condition. (for a price)

There's that. Ah well. At the very least every piece of loot is worth a look now. I shouldn't bitch too much. They've got item attributes for velocity and stuff, which will make for good times.

Expect to see some a Christmas update around the 15th. We've got some festive content coming your way that will definite put you in the spirit.

And Christmas content two weeks later? Oh my.

Glad we have a firm date for this, gonna be turkey sandwiches and Terraria.

Now we just need socketed items and this'll pretty much be Diablo 0.1

Are we going with some kind of title system - such as Violating Nights Edge of Leet giving X to Y to stats - or are they going to have a +/- to random stats?

Because I can already see people cheating in a copper sword + 32767  ::)

People already cheat in infinite health and mana, you shouldn't not add a feature because people cheat. :P

I'm pretty sure quite a few MMOs would disagree with you.

The question is: is having random stat changes worth having people running around tossing godly godswords of godliness? At least with the current system it's relatively easy to detect and prevent things with the current Tshock.

Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see. It's one of those things where I hope I'm wrong, but Murphy's law usually gives us the finger.

Terraria really isn't an MMO though. I mean it kinda sucks but it's a matter of kicking them off your server if they show up and you don't want them around.

Did they add a kick function yet? I've forgotten.

Anyway yeah, best to just wait and see I suppose.

Vanilla server have kick and ban functions. But the former barely does anything and the latter is relatively easy to bypass.

Tshock and Tmod can catch impossible HP/MP and item stacks, among other things; but it's going to be quite a task to update it to 1.1; it's not like 1.0.6 ->1.0.6.1 after all.

Whereas cheaters can simply edit save files which are stored on their computer.

That NPC hint thing wasn't really necessary. Aside from their prerequisites, all they need is a chair, table, door, a torch, and a completely manmade area and they're set for their little electronic lives, no real guesswork there.

Also, doesn't someone around here host a Terraria server? I saw it on a thread but I don't know if it's still active or not.

If NPCs require different things in the future it will be immensely useful. And even if that feature is only there for moving them around different homes, that alone is worth a month of dev time.
