OK, this is getting ridiculous. Neo, you can have your utter hatred of everything that gives me more time to enjoy the game. Nej, recognize that neither of you are going to change your positions.

we can go back to the first few pages of this and find you saying you may not ever like Terraria

Wait a minute, it is almost like your drawing some sort of conclusion I didn't give.

We had this discussion before. I try to be impartial. It is cold and hypeless but I prefer to attempt that as it gives a more rounded vision of the game. I know I focus on negative things (as deserves my personality).

I always decide to do it that way no matter how much I like the game. Even Dwarf Fortress I'll openly talk about things I perceive as flaws.

Quote
I take the game in chunks rather than having the 4 hour plan for success

It takes 4 hours before anything happens... Generally speaking I like to play until something happens. Unfortunately digging can take forever (Finding that Jungle... UGH)

Quote
you may not appreciate the changes now, they're laying the ground work for something you may enjoy more later

Ohh my goodness... It is true... You already assumed what I getting at... and got it wrong!

Nenjin the hard part about speaking with you is that you add 50% more information about what I say then I give out. I am sorry if I gave you that impression.

Quote
Again, this is where you and I just don't see eye to eye on why the game is worth playing at all

Are you sure? You should read your own statements as you havn't actually said anything about anything I said dirrectly.

Which is the beautiful thing about the human language is it allows these conversations to just be large piddling about chats that don't go anywhere.

Quote
Neo, you can have your utter hatred of everything that gives me more time to enjoy the game

Yes, if it wasn't for my hatred, in your words exactly... You wouldn't have more time to enjoy the game.

Now I know I have done a great service. At least I would have if I ever hated Terraria... DANG IT! I need to start hating it...

Quote
Thank, BB. I was hoping someone would call an end to that

Arguements happen, really don't let it stop any discussion. It is important for both negative and possitive aspects of anything to come to light even if that means it will lead to arguements. The best thing you can do is not let it slow you down.

The best thing for me to do is not let other people's scorn put me down... and I don't because analysing everything around me is one thing I enjoy a great deal (well Ok I DO, but I try not to dwell on it... too much...)

Besides what BB did wasn't "call an end" and was more accurately engaging me.

I dunno what you guys are getting all verklempt about. This is still a friendly debate as far as I'm concerned. He's got legitimate reasons why the game runs flat for him, I think he's just letting that spoil the rest of the game for him.

And so we come full circle! Really man, it's just tone. If I seem to talk in hype, it's because if I come down on something I enjoy, I feel the need to balance it out by saying what I do enjoy.

The hard part for me is dealing with people giving a negative opinion and then trying to say it ain't negative! Possibly the result of trying to be "cold and hypeless." I know the cynic routine and being the loyal opposition. There's just something deliciously absurd to me about the guy who goes "I had some fun....but I didn't like it!"

And yes, don't let me and Neo derail other stuff. We're compelled to read what the other says, doesn't mean you have to be :P

No of course I am giving negative oppinions. The difference is that I am not saying Terraria is bad, just that I have large problems with some parts of it.

While Terraria wouldn't be that. The concept behind it is if the fun you get isn't worth the effort of extracting it or if the unfun parts overwhelm the fun.

For example even outright horrible games often gave some small sections of solid gameplay or scenery.

YAY! I was worried you were getting short with me. It is always the worst parts of debates/arguements is that people often just lose respect for the opposition (which has happened... with BB...)

Anyhow Nenjin... I am not sure I want to continue this too much further because it is likely I have explained myself so badly that anyone reading is bound to have drawn the "I hate terraria and this is why it sucks" conclusion (which is likely since BB ALSO drawn that very conclusion and I do the same thing all the time).

Not on my installed game list. I don't play AC2 or BS or anything else because it works at one point. Sort of like I (wrongly I'm sure) assume you don't play Terraria just because Night's Edge or w/e looks cool. (Or boss fights are fun, or building is fun, ect...)

Hell. I still even contemplate playing Elemental or Dungeons, two games that burst into flames on impact. Because there's enough that works that I feel like I can still get my money's worth out of it. One could assume that any fun to be had is all just in my head and I've got some weird sort of Stockholm Syndrome going on.....but I like to think the people that made it weren't total idiots or talentless hacks and that most games have something worth playing, if only for 10 or 20 minutes.

You're just a cynic about it and that gets people's dander's up. It's a bullet-proof position other than the fact its cynical :P

I don't play Terraria at the moment because I am waiting for more features to be put in place so I have more to do once it comes back.

Unfortunately I am tempted to play when I check out the forums.

I don't start a new character... because I am afraid of having the same start where there is nothing to do except dig straight down... (the horror!)

No, people have different standards and oppinions. I uttarly loathe games with "Play limits" and yet games like Kingdom of Loathing are very popular with their fans. That and sometimes fun is worth a bit of pain.

When I eat Jellybeans I eat the yellow ones first (I don't eat black ones at all) because that means that any Jellybean I eat afterwords will not be yellow.

That and there is something beyond fun as well... There are just some games you don't play for fun.

Sigh. Will one of you be the bigger man and quit detracting from people's fun? I'd like to have to read a post back to find out what someone says, not a page back.

But... why arn't you... adding something fun?

Besides I think we BOTH admitted we were the bigger man... right now.

Or just QFT.

Oh, and something fun, so that I have provided it, as opposed to Neo or bread or darvi: I recently got my brother into this game. He's been playing it all day. It makes me happy to pass it on since we don't share a lot of interests. Have you guys gotten any family members playing?

We haven't been insulting each other, I think you guys can deal with having to go a page back because two people chose to have something to say to each other. I think we're pretty much done at this point, but why NOT have another 5 people pile on, just for good measure, right?

THERE CAN NEVER BE ENOUGH INTERNET ARGUMENT, nenjin. Never.

Following up on last post, it is mildly annoying that he constantly has questions while I'm working, and won't read the wiki.

Honestly as impossible as you think I am... My brother is worse

I had to show my brother that AWSOME Dwarf Fortress comic... tell him that it will be free forever, and a lot of other stuff...

JUST to get him to try it. (and he will hate it for sure)

He also won't play videogames for the PS3 unless they have achievements.

He loves Minecraft though... a lot more then I would have thought... Guess it is my fault.

No wiki temptation.

My awful friend wants me to build his character in Hero system... because he is EVIL!

Hmm.

I'd like to see different blocks having different effect in the future, not just looking pretty.

Damage maybe? But then, would the blocks dissapear or just act as if they've been blown up...

No no, my idea is probably awful.
