Coming soon in 1.05:

Alchemy. Potions to find rare ores, run faster, stick to surfaces like ceilings and I think Night Vision. Alchemy has been "Totally reworked."

And this dude.

Here's the whole blog post:

Its kinda silly to complain that a friendly NPC isn't a well designed boss fight.

RED.
ARREMER.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

On the other hand, Yay Alchemy! I was going to suggest semi-permanent mutations that would give both positive and negative effects, but this works too.

Seems the next update is rolling out soon, judging by how he says they've already done everything.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm keeping off of Hardcore chars. Half of my deaths are a result of a fall or badly thrown explosives.  We'll see though.

I want gravestones for non-hardcore players too. It makes me sad it seems they're the only ones that are going to get them.

Of course, now we can go make graveyards for funsies.

I'm not going anywhere near hardcore. Rogue-likes require judgment, not reflexes or timing. Anyone played the Castlevania Rogue-like? It's bloody fucking frustrating.

I had to laugh when they mentioned, "Be careful going online with a hardcore character!" Yeah, I've seen Kael's server, and while totally awesome if you can respawn on death, if server owners can do things like that, there's no way I'd ever go online with a hardcore character. (Not to mention totally-arbitrary deaths by lag spikes even when on a non-modded server!)

Avoiding death would also be bloody hard. One poorly-timed knockback, one mistake when switching weapons in combat, one miscalculated jump, and you're restarting from scratch. A few pages back, I started whining about how boring the early-game is. Now imagine playing through the boring early-game every time you screw up:o

That said, improved alchemy sounds interesting. Not to mention the Guide improvements - the Wiki might no longer be required reading material!

Ohhhhh maaaaaan.......

Will there be a matrix pot that slows down all projectiles? Because that  would be so cool.

Arg. Dammit.

Meteor hit my 1 tile thick walkway to search for floating islands. Hardly any meteorite, but I've decided to skip meteor stuff, and go straight for molten.

Ochita, one thing I've learned is that it's a lot easier if you grab a space gun (or even the flintlock pistol, really. Ammo is pretty cheap) and then you just fire upward and you wait for the sound of vines being destroyed. Floating islands, in my experience, usually have vines coming down from the bottom, so you just walk around the map, shooting upwards, until you hear the bullet hitting the vines.

If you have spare meteor bars, use meteor shot.
You don't even need the sound.  The bullet comes back at you.

Why don't you guys just look for places where there's background dirt in the air?

Tried that.

No island.

Usually, the dirt background walls show you where an island is, but not always. Same with the rare ores on the surface thing.

Man I cannot wait for hardcore. I guess I'm weird though. I hope there will be a way to limit servers to newly created characters along with that, then I can have fun making a hardcore server. Wheee.

I would gladly do hardcore.

I mean, I already make a new character for each world.
