I found a floating island with my new-ish character. I haven't found any life crystals yet, and barely any metal ore. My best weapon is a silver broadsword. Needless to say, HARPIES OH GOD OH GOD SHIT FUCK SHIT 30 DAMAGE A HIT RANGED ATTACKS 100 HIT POINTS FUCK SHIT I DIED

Against my better judgement, I went back to the floating island. I didn't really have a choice, as I had left a large (early on) amount of money up there. I managed to barricade myself inside the building (and looted the chest for a lucky horseshoe) and now I have to figure out how to escape from six harpies and disassemble the building (gold brick, silver walls).

If harpies can't fly through walls (have not fought them yet), then the solution to this is the same as that used to penetrate a layer of water/magma.

Build a 4/5 wide column of dirt through the medium you wish to avoid and tunnel through the center. Going down is easy because you don't need platforms or steps, but slow because you can only do one layer at a time.
