Could you make it so that both teams can access the same NPCs without entering their rooms?  I haven't ever tried to talk to one through a wall before, but you might be able to just trap them in a 4x5 box so they will never be out of talking range from either team.

Tried that, room could have been smaller but during the night they would stand in the dead center, just out of reach from both side...

So i'm fighting the eye with my musket, it's going ok, i'm getting somewhat good at dodging his lunges and the gun does decent damage.I got him down to 150 hp, in my thrill to kill the bastard i completely forget to watch my hp and get killed, he ofcourse vanishes right after that the big round bastard ;__;

Only 10% elfy.  It is a known dwarf tactic.  Though one must be sure to chop them as soon as they mature enough, or else the percentage of elfyness begins to spiral upward for every minute unharvested.

Though making the farm underground usually reduces the elfyness by 2/3rds (indoors but not underground only reduces it by 1/2) I'm not sure that is possible in terraria.

It's a high risk thing.  But if you need the wood the risk can be worth it.
