I've had two meteors in this world, and both of them were nice and profitable. The first one hit a cave entrance and gave up just shy of 240 ore. The second one was at the bottom of a chasm, and it gave me over 300 ore and a Ball O' Hurt (from the shadow orb it smashed when it hit). Just now, a third meteor has hit the tower world, and something tells me it's not going to be as useful. I don't know why, but it just feels like I've been too lucky so far. Didn't even get a devourer while I was mining out the last bits of the second one.

Oh, and about a quarter of the underground jungle is above ground. There was even a floating shrine, complete with feral claws.

EDIT: My luck holds. It hit solid flat ground.

That, and discussion of decency in a forum that, to a large part, is dedicated to such high points as kitten genocide and sentient torture, is really kinda' misplaced. Sex is a lesser violation of decency than violence, though the combination is, of course, worse than either alone. Not really sure where this wikiporn falls on the scale, hum.

Much prefer manners, anyway. That's a lot easier to nail down. Violation of ToS should be dealt with swiftly

Okay guys, I need some organizational assistance.  I'm trying to come up with a checklist of rare (or rare-ish) objects, and I'm not sure I've got them all.

Like hell it is. It's currently somewhat weird as it provides the shadow set's bonus as well as its own (without telling the player), but that will probably be sorted out relatively soon. Other than that, it provides the same defense as shadow or necro, and it's only better than those if you like using mana a whole lot (rocket boots).

As for the armor, cobalt is apparently more-or-less shadow+meteorite, in terms of set bonus. It's about even in terms of tier to hellstone, though more annoying to get.

How so? All three are 19 defense, and you can't very well quantify the value of the bonuses, although a quick wiki check suggests that Cobalt is definitely superior to Shadow, since it gives the same bonus in addition to it's state bonus. However, it isn't better than hellstone. It might be more chance reliant, but you can never tell me it's easier to kill hornets than it is to mine while under attack of bone serpents and imps.

Wait, that set is bugged? In other words, it's supposed to provide more defense than it currently does?

Okay, that's not a bug. That's the programming gods themselves intervening with a completely necessary nerf.

It's supposed to grant 38 def, 28 from the raw pieces, and then the 10 set bonus is borked.

Following color rarity, there's 3 tiers for non-mundane armor.

Blue Tier:  Meteor -- Shadow
Green Tier: Necro
Orange Tier: Cobalt -- Molten

In my opinion, the important armors can be divided into the following tiers.

Low Tier:  Meteor -- Shadow
Top Tier:  Necro -- Cobalt -- Fixed Molten

The lower tier has a choice between mana regeneration or six points of defense.  Mana regeneration is situationally useful, but ultimately I feel Shadow is the stronger choice.
The top tier would be choosing between agility, mana regeneration, or nineteen points of defense.  Mana is fun, yet no more useful than it was before.  The benefit of more defense is self evident, but usually unneeded.  So to me, the 30% increase in maximum speed and acceleration seems the biggest real benefit.
