I have a Cobalt helmet, if anyone wants it. I don't plan on using it.

It might be in a chest on my friend's server, though.

Edit: Cobalt*

I've gotten two cobalt greaves and helmets so far, and no breastplates, and dug two tunnels to the jungle from opposite directions. (I killed the things and collected stuff for quite a while yesterday, but today I mostly dug a better tunnel from the center of the map instead)

I didn't find any shrines in the jungle, though.

If you (theoretically) were using the new tunnel you would basically walk from our home base, go west a bit to where one person's house is, and jump down a chute. After braking or using a grappling hook twice to avoid death on the two platforms that person had in the chute already (I'm going to see about removing those if possible), you then would continue falling to 700 below without interruption. At the very bottom is enough water to cushion your fall and save you from taking damage. Then there's a straight tunnel west to the jungle which is runnable in under a minute with hermes boots.

(This is on a large map, but most of the orbs have already been smashed, the dungeon looted, two floating islands discovered so far, the underworld breached and tons of hellstone acquired, but I don't think many chests have been found there)

I have been over more floating islands that I care to count, such is the fate of the skyward wanderer.  :P Yet I would see my starcannon and sunfury, phoenix blaster and flamelash for but a set of cobalt armour, if only so that I may take to the skies again as less of a glass cannon.

Cushioning a fall to prevent falling damage:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This is the bottom of the chute I just mentioned.

(The sign says "Mind the gap." and points out the direction of the jungle)

To be honest, I think WE should construct a battlefield on a small map. Make a CTF style map. It's destructible etc, but it starts both teams off on equal footing.

I think it should go like this:

People discuss what kind of map they want, maybe do some ghetto sketches. 4 to 8 people join a map as the same team. They bring resources from their worlds with them, and build the world leaving as much of it undisturbed as they can. Then they save out the map and post the file for the actual PvP world.

I could do a quick design on bases.

Pretty much this. Make sure to back up the world etc, too.

A massive valley sounds like the best way to go for maximum fun. Bombs and gravity, and all. Also forcing people to tunnel deeper to be sneaksy can only lead to more fun.

Actually I was thinking one that gets quite narrow, or maybe even gets dug out down to the underground level. Lava is cute, but I'm imaging in PvP, small pools are not going to last long. And the point isn't to instantly kill people at the bottom of the valley...it's to funnel all the madness into one point.

So will this be an open cut operation? I would love to rain death from above with my rocket boots and fire flower.

I don't think it would be possible to really regulate some finer rules in Terraria. The whole point is you have options, so....

Although a fresh start PvP game is going to have a completely different tone than just an open call. I'm not really interested in open characters, tbh. Someone will load up with dynamite and/or boots, have their fun and it will be old hat. And it will be on people's honor not to cheat and bring in stuff from other worlds and be total douches.

How about this..

Everyone gets into a team, and away from the Spawn Point.
They dig down, gather resources and build a base.
After a certain time have passed, the carnage will begin.
The team, who looses their base (Being destroyed with no bricks/wood remaining of the construction.) is eliminated.
This then continues until only one team remains.

Just an idea I had.

Edit: Perhaps somekind of "Dungeon heart" everyone from that team should protect from being destroyed instead?
