I've come to the conclusion: DPS title doesn't belong to the Nix. It goes to the Star Cannon. If you have the ammo to feed it, that shit is insane.

To put it into perspective, it takes 20 shots to take an EoC down. Even clicking meh slow, your Nix at max AHK speed still wouldn't out DPS it.

Of course, the ammo issue is what makes it so prohibitive.

Wish they would just release mod tools. Not even sure it could be moded or not, but this game would greatly benefit from machinery. Trains, elevators, trap doors, switches, flood gates ect., that's what I want, can't think of much else that will keep me playing for more than 1-2 more weeks. Not much of a mega-project guy myself, and multi player has been hit or miss

When you factor in the time you spend running around looking for stars, it is a lot slower.

Right, but in say WoW, for DPSes, do they factor in how long getting all the buffs would take in considering their optimal DPS?

I think the ammo issue can be solved with a skyway. Just take your Hermes' Boots over to one end, wait for nightfall, run across it, then run back (assuming you didn't make it too long to go both ways in one night). You'll collect quite a few.

Of course, having to grind for ammo is never a trait of a truly awesome weapon.

Yeah, after all the buildup, that one threw me for a loop.  Oh well, I can reliably mine them now, even if it does take a little while (my eternal frienemy dynamite notwithstanding).  I still think I'll try my luck against the Underworld.  I think I've got the caster rhythm down now, and if I hadn't fallen in unprepared the first time, I probably would have been more effective.

In fact it makes the Wiki's suggestion to intentionally miss so it will hit everyone in the path... a bad suggestion.

It might be a better idea than you think. Unlike with flails, you can switch weapons as soon as you throw a boomerang/chakrum. With a little effort one could do a lot of damage with a flamarang and another high-power weapon.

Keep ten flamarangs in your hotbar.

Or, yanno', 3+ other flamarangs. I keep meaning to go get together the makings of another few flamarangs to see how ridiculous it'd be. Set AHK going and run the fingers back and forth across the hotkeys, point the mouse at whatever I feel like making die. I can only imagine it'd be just plain silly.

I do prefer the sunfury for most of my weapon needs, barring grass cutting. I've one-shot fireimps with the thing before, which is just delightful. Barring the 'nix and starcannon aberrations, the flails are just the highest damage weapons in their general item tier, once you get used to aiming them. Barring the harpoon. It just kinda' sucks, from what I remember. No pierce, more like a boomerang on a string.

Meteor doesn't fuel anything. Cobalt is better for mana.

I was actually switching between the sunfury and flamarang in the jungle depending on where my targets were and whether they were underwater or not. The sunfury works a lot better going through water than the flamarang, and the flamarang works a lot better going upwards and through the air, and long distances, than the sunfury.
