New patch for terraria came out just these last few moments. Singleplayer and multi has been optimized. Uses much less resources now.

Interesting to see running terraria raw doesn't force an update. Wasn't sure what to expect on that end, heh. Probably go through steam once this mining expedition's done. Probably soon... ran out of torches a couple times already :-\

I just picked this up, spent a few hours with it today. Very interesting game... has a lot of the polish that minecraft lacks.

Excellent, running a server and client together now takes about 1/4 the cpu power it used to.

Hey guys, I found a giant red-brick fortress thing at the far western end of the map.  Should I loot it?

I'm a little peeved that there's apparently no way to pause the game in single-player except making Terraria not the frontmost window.  And that saving doesn't save your location.  At least it's a nice teleport home if you get totally lost.

You should take this guy's advice, seems legit, a lot like me! In fact, you should open the door that the old guy was probably standing somewhere near to, and head on inside! Make sure not to talk to him beforehand if you do, though. Just go right on through the door and your wildest dreams will become reality.

 Seriously though, you can loot like ten dungeon lights and a dozen books before anybody notices. Even reach a chest if you're lucky.
