Could be worse, they could have kept updating the game haphazardly until the game was nothing more than a sad shadow of its former self.

*grumble grumble tf2 grumble*

Oh god... agree with this so much.

One of the reasons I don't play TF2, despite having bought it before it became Free to Play. People say TF2 is an easy to pick up game? Not if you're 1 year late from all the new stuff that's in.

I began playing it in beta and loved it deeply for the first couple years.

It truly was probably the best game I had ever played.  And one of the only multiplayer games I could actually get into.  The store and the grinding really ruined the game for me though.

I've got well over 200 hours on TF2, all of it from before the free-to-play thing. I was never really good at it, I just had fun.

Some of the best money I've ever spent. Now I need to see if there are any mods. Or get the Super Hostile map for it.

A bit sad to see it halted like this, but i guess it had to come eventually. Definitely money well spent on my part, it's hands down the game i've bought the most copies of so i could have a clusterblock party with my (internet) friends (and bro). I've logged 150 in-game hours (idling included), which is more than almost every game i've ever spent the classic 50€ on, and this was cheaper than that, even with the multiple copies. So yeah, that's pretty good.

Terraria was definitely fun to play with my brother online. We had fun with mid and hardcore characters, and trekking to fetch our old stuff back from the abyss of ungodly difficulty.

I've actually been using 2 accounts for this game, one for multiplayer (and co-op progresss), and another one purely for solo runs. I'm rather impressed that I was able to catch up to my co-op character with my solo runner in such a short amount of time; or at least, quicker than I initially expected. Albeit, I have found an exploit or 2 while playing solo to make some forms of farming easier. I lucked out with the hard mode transition to render directly under my home a total Dao Farm, split by my hellivator. Better yet, I have pools of lava and plenty of obsidian potions to farm all the light and dark souls I ever need.

After having seen all those small mine shaft things, and also looking at the floating islands, I'm surprised they never implemented sky pirates into either the worldgen or as a random boss fight encounter or something. I guess that'll be a side-project I can work on on one of my maps.

Maybe they will release the source code or transfer the development to some other guy or something.

Gaslamp games (Dungeons of Dreadmor guys) has expressed interest in taking over development so hopefully that happens.

I didn't know that. Don't expect me to check all these pages for something I wasn't even aware of ::)

So, that's good news. Game isn't dead.
