What? Not-so-easy?

Grab a sword with 30+ dmg and just stand in spot, whacking at the head. It will die fast and dropped hearts will easily heal you so you won't even have to stop. I did that all the time with only Muramasa and Shadow armor set :D

I assumed he was fairly early in the game (before the dungeon or so). I've farmed the Eater by just standing still with a Godly Dao of Pow planted at my feet.

The shotgun is expensive too but it sucks.

What are you talking about?
The shotgun is great, you just need to learn how to use it~
Keep in mind, it's a shotgun, not a rifle, so you have to compensate for spread~

Point blank with crystal shot and range outfit bonus it kick ass.

Because if it's a gun and does ranged damage, it's pretty weird to me that it's mostly the best at close/melee distance. But it's a shotgun.

In completely unrelated news, the musket could really use a buffed or upgraded version.

I. Hate. Demon. Eyes. I was doing good, almost got Eye of Cthulhu to 2000 hp with my musket, then all of a sudden a damn demon eye hits me out of nowhere, letting the eye finish me.

The REAL thing about the shotgun is that you CAN'T use meteor shot with it, because only one ball will hit a mob. Plain musket balls are better in a shotgun because of that, silver bullets or the other non piercing rounds are even better, but avoid meteor shot, JUST for the shotgun.

You've have to get yourself a safe area pretty quick, probably spend much of your starting time digging a 200+ wide trench underground and then up, to make a chunk of land that's safe from hallow/corrupt spawning.  Although you'll still get raped by wights until you attract enough NPCs to push back spawns.

My thoughts? GOOD LUCK. You'll probably not be dealing more than 1 damage to any hardmode monster. Use hammer to knock things the fuck away, and pad your desk with gratuitous pillows for when you inevitably start bashing your head against it. :P

That sounds insanely Fun! So much that I decided to give it a try.

First thing I see with my new character: night (oops, could have waited for day ??? ) and werewolves (oh shit!)
Currently sitting in a dirt hole waiting for day time. At least, my starting area isn't hallowed or something nasty like that (yet).

Arccording to the wiki you'd only need a 4-wide trench to prevent hallow/corruption.

We've had this discussion before, I think - I think most enemies shouldn't drop anything, and the ones that do should be visually distinguished so you can decide whether or not to engage and to seek them out. Rather than every skeleton dropping hooks, you should be able to occassionally (rarely) spot a "hook skeleton". That's the sort of thing I argue for, not a dungeon level "OH GOD THE EVERYTHING DROPS EVERYTHING" sort of problem.

You realize that this is just random drops, except you know when you're going to get one? So instead of farming skeletons constantly when you want a hook, you just run around killing things hoping that a hook skeleton will spawn. Unless the hook skeletons were more common than hook drops now, but that could be solved in the same way by just increasing the drop rates now.

Is the demolitionist unlocked by having any kind of explosive item, or the "Explosives" item specifically? Because the wiki seems completely unaware that this is confusing.

Me and my friend beat the eye of cthulhu, so we have sweet weapons. With them, we went back and beat it again.

Don't worry. Give yourselves demonite weapons, and the EoW is surprisingly easy.

The demonite sword is only useful for making the Night's Edge, as it's really short and the other weapons like the axe and hammer are autoswing.
