See, this is strange, since I actually find the 'evil' critters less annoying/deadly then the 'good' critters. If I've got to pick one, I'd actually rather go with more corruption than hallow.

Corruption is, however, considerably less pretty. Not to mention the Hallowed has better music.

I'd rather have world feeders and corruptors than laser snails.

Huh, silly Dryad. You'd think that cleansing all corruption would trigger a special event, but nooooooooo! TRY HARDER, MAGGOT. As a theory, i think the devs made it so because removing all corruption post-wall is almost impossible. They wouldn't want people to miss out on things that happen like that.

Also, breaking news. I have solo'd Destroyer, and if i can, so can everyone else! It just requires top-notch gear. So yeah, not really breaking news after all. Still much harder than EoW with pre-wall equivalent gear, though. Also, guns are very ineffective against it when compared to, say, repeater with unholy arrows. Meteor shots could somewhat even that balance, but the fact is that they can score a max of 2 hits (for a max of what, 32 damage per hit?), while unholy arrows can hit 5 times for up to 47 DAMAGE PER HIT (with hallowed repeater). Although the megashark shoots 3 times as fast, the potential damage of an unholy arrow is more than 3 times as large. Plus, the higher damage lends itself better to the high defense of the big-ass metal worm. If you factor in defense, unholy arrows can potentially deal 4.7 times as much damage as meteor shots, WHICH LEADS TO 2/3rds higher DPS, provided that all shots hit as many body segments as they can. So it's well worth using them. Also, flamethrower deals superb damage too.

Yeah, all the hardmode bosses are easy to solo if you put a minimal amount of effort into equipment, planning, and arenabuilding.

Also, I still don't get the problems people are having with lasersnails. I mean, yeah, they're mildly annoying in wall and prewall gear, but even then they won't get more than 2-3 shots on you if you just keep running and dodging, rather than trying to fight them or moving in a slow, predictable path.

Okay, folks! I'm going to face the Wall! Am currently wearing full shadow set, got a Demonic Night's Edge, Zealous Dark Lance, Sunfury, Mythical Flower of Fire. For accessories I got a Cloud in Balloon, Precise Diving Gear, Lucky Obsidian Horseshoe, Warding Band of Starpower and Angry Spectre Boots. Is this enough? I probably need some ranged weapon, right? What would be appropriate?

Demon Scythe.

Hover close to face, unleash few attacks, fly away to recuperate. Rinse, repeat.

Or just use the Flamethrower. Even better!
i mentioned that if you didn't notice

BUT, flamethrower requires you to kill Skeletron Prime first. Good luck doing that, i haven't been there yet. The notion of Skeletron Prime terrifies me.

@Bitoru: Minishark (with silver bullets if possible) should do nicely if you shoot the eyes, otherwise you could probably also do fine with a phoenix blaster. Oh, and something to kill all those tentacles, preferrably something piercing. I would recommend meteor shots, but i've noticed that they have a nasty habit of missing when you use rapid-fire weapons. If guns aren't your thing (or are too expensive), demon/molten bow with unholy/hellfire arrows can kill anything that Wally throws at you. In any case, you probably want to make an arena first. Also what ninja-Haspen said.

I'm going to be honest, atmosphere in this game is becoming jarringly inconsistent. Walking from corruption to hallows gives game whiplash.

I went for a Phoenix Blaster w/ Meteor Shot and good old run'n'gun. Cloud in a Balloon/Spectre Boots helps massively. So do some potions (regeneration potion!)

Hellbridge is also a good idea. So that the run part works.

Same here. And get a lucky horseshoe, trust me on this.

And a crapton of bullets. Had to try again a bunch of times cause I ran out of ammo.
