EoW is pretty easy if you have some nightmare/demonite armor and an ironskin potion. Just kept swinging my axe and it died soon enough. Didn't even make an arena.

I haven't been able to mine the dungeon blocks with a nightmare pickaxe. Not sure if something else would work.

GoldNightmare and up, so it'll do fine.

Heh. I fought the Eater of Worlds again, just so that I could get the breastplate and complete the armour set. Even without the breastplate, I was only taking 1/2 points of damage when I fought him the second time. Skelely is probably not able to do much more than that. Oh, and I got a mythical verithorn too. Actually, now that I think about it, shadow orbs 4-6 all gave me verithorns.

I haven't been able to mine the dungeon blocks with a nightmare pickaxe. Not sure if something else would work.

What about dynamite/bombs?

They're explode-proof. They also take twice as long to mine as most blocks.

Ah. Thanks. My plan to make a French Foreign legion1 is actually possible then.

1. Seeing as my world is a single player world, I can't actually have any foreign legionaries or anything in it, but I think that having a random fortress in the middle of the desert is kinda cool. Actually, that kinda reminds me. I should really turn my hut into a fortress some day, or at least work on the Chapel of Victory over Cthulhu.

I believe dungeon bricks require 4 hits with nightmare pick but walls seem to go in 1 or 2 with hamaxe.

Definitely not, unless it's the deeper stuff specifically. I've cut the overhanging part of the entrance flat this very version, in a new world.

Yeah, I always get to the dungeon before it gets dark and prepare the area by trimming the awning and adding platforms to make Skeletron easy.

Nope. It's a hardmode item. You can look for it's weaker cousin, the ball of hurt in shadow orbs though.

Much weaker cousin. I have a Godly Dao of Pow that can do 75 or so damage with a melee build. It is one of the easier hardmode items to craft though, so once you've triggered it you should start gathering the materials.

Yeah, Dao's too easy to craft (but devs, please don't change the recipe.).

It requires a:

Light Shard
Dark Shard (forgot the name, might be wrong)
5 souls of night
5 souls of light

Also, the ball o' hurt is the Dao's weakest cousin. The order of progression of the flails is as follows:

Ball o' Hurt -> Blue Moon -> Sunfury -> Dao of Pow

I didn't include the Harpoon, because while it's technically a flail, it's kind of unique that it has a very small projectile, and it automatically retracts upon hitting an enemy.

 It also uses ranged damage instead of melee damage. The instant retraction has more in common with the boomerang weapons, which means you can use the usual tactic of firing very rapidly on enemies right in front of you. It is also easier to get if a goblin invasion occurs very early on, making the dungeon very simple to deal with.

 Note the shards are dropped by light and dark mummies in corrupted and hallow deserts. Or any sand really.

What are the odds of a goblin invasion dropping a harpoon? I got hit with an invasion shortly after killing iCthulhu, and didn't get one.
