I now have gotten to mythril armor.

Damn, you need a lot of adamantite. I came home with two stacks of ore, made the forge and could only get a breastplate.

I finally got myself a depth meter, swim fins, a gold pick, and a grappling hook. The world is my oyster.
Now get a GPS, Neptune's Shell, Hamdrax, and Ivy Whip.
:3

Dual Hook is bettur. :B
You can only get it in hardmode, but I would hardly call it better.

I can call it better, since I don't have to get stuck by three vines each time I spam the grapple button at the walls. Dual hook is like the grappling hook; built for speed, except that an additional hook holds you in place to avoid plummeting into lava. Plus, it's quite long.

Then again, when constructing stuff, I can say that the Ivy whip is better at that department.

Yar, getting adamantite bars is quite a chore. 5 ores per bar and you get 15-20 bits from each cluster... not to mention that adamantite clusters are 2/3 of cobalt/mythril cluster size.

Chest statues.
All the mimics spawned pre-wall in our server never dropped anything, I never thought that could be a thing.

Mimics can be spawned via statues, but statue-mimics never drop anything. Only 'natural' mimics have drops.

I've gotten a star cloak and philosopher's stone from statue mimics. They just don't drop money.

EDIT: Huh. The wiki disagrees. I think I might have gotten them from natural mimics.

I just got a goblin invasion...in hardmode and me having an Assault Rifle and 500 crystal bullets. I didnt even have to aim, the crystal shrapnel would just kill them. It was actually kinda sad.

I imagine they attempted to do a last-ditch revenge attack on the monter who destroyed the world, before they would all get killed between all the corruption and hallow guys. And they failed horribly. The once mighty goblin empire has fallen, their homes soon turned into corruption or the hallow, with all traces of them destroyed.

They only started to notice you when you broke a shadow orb. Knowing that something was amiss, they sent their scouts to investigate, until they spotted a camp of indeterminate size containing indeterminate amounts of people.

They decided to launch an assault, but it ended horribly for them. All they wanted was balance, since your very presence meant that the island would soon turn into a wellspring of misfortune. And they were right. The guides had their life forces tied to the demons within hell, and as their lifeforces faded away, within dolls of demonic origin, a gigantic vertical mass of flesh with eyes and a set of teeth emerged from the fiery depths of Hell's lava lakes. Soon after that, you manage to kill the demon, and subsequently release all of the ancient spirits' souls, sending the forces of light to reform the land once more, and the forces of darkness to enhance their hold on reality.

Nothing was ever the same. The goblins got slaughtered slowly, but surely, until they were separated from each other. They only had one person to blame for all the misfortune they experienced. It was you. You who unsealed the ancient cruel spirits of the world. You who singlehandedly and heartlessly murdered all of the goblins heading your way. You who unwittingly destroyed the balance of the world, the balance that the goblins tried to maintain.

And then, they launch one last attack before they fade away from existence. Unfortunately for them, you climbed the ladder ever higher, even physically becoming a man who can go toe-to-toe with demigods. They were vanquished quickly, more than ever, until they were no more.

And you didn't even care. You only cared to reach the top of the ladder and become stronger and stronger...

What the hell, Hero?
