I am willing to start my own little mod project aimed at early-mid game rather than late game (I got bored of god-tier items and killing everything with weird guns).

So I want to start with some basic stuff, like wolves which drop skin you can craft into leather to make leather armor, crossbows and various decorations. Will someone risk to play with me using TConfig? Because I know I will be bored of singleplayer quite soon. Maybe I will host a server.

Good. Once Tconfig is updated to add more features and we group up, maybe we'll have some Bay12 mod which adds more Fun and less "omigawd" :).

Geh, they haven't quite fixed the bug where pressing E while writing on sgins and such exits it. Or maybe I am just missing something.

So my dream of perpetual waterfalls is dead :(
The way I see it you have two options:
1: design a column of water with the pumps directly above each other.  Shortly above the intake pump, have an overflow tunnel.  This tunnel leads directly to another pump, and this second pump pushes water into a hellevator/hell itself.  This way, the falling water is disconnected from the waterfall, the waterfall pump still has a reservoir of its own, and the overflow is designed to never empty out the entire thing.

2: Use the Active Stone Blocks.  Using them, it should be fairly easy to make a huge chunk of water suddenly split in two, and drain half of it into hell.  This solution is a bit more manual work to adjust the water levels, but if it's filling slowly you can make a large enough reservoir to handle it for a few days.

Forgot to mention this: Whoever discovered the trick of farming the EoW in underground corruption for massive amounts of Souls of Night, I tested it out, and you can't do the same for Souls of Light, as the EoW disappears if you actually enter underground Hallow, and doesn't get close enough to it for you to kill it while in the Hallow if you don't.

Except a) the volume of water creates a column and b) the evaporation does like to travel up that column. Even when it's in free-fall and coming apart.

Tried. I don't really have the patience for timing 4 sets of active stone blocks. And it would make the fall down the hellavator...unpleasant. I've watched the evaporation travel all the way up the hellavator while the water is dispersed, so I don't really think it will work.

Can't you use a smaller pump system or several to fill a small, enclosed cistern with perpetually increasing water, then have separate pumps to create the intended waterfall that drains into hell? You would of course need to set up enough feedback pumps so that they create enough water by duplicaton to equal the amount that exits the system via the waterfall itself, but in principle the system should work fairly well

This is what I'm going to have to end up doing, I think. Creating isolated transfer pockets of water that link to pumps pushing water directly into hell. It's the only way I'm going to get true separation and dodge the evaporation. Unfortunately, it's going to be a timing/fluid balance nightmare.

I'm glad I bit the bullet and just started inventory hacking to get money for wire. There's no way I'd grind to come up with kind of cash.

Always carry wire cutters with you to dismantle random traps. Stripping the dungeon got me like two stacks of wire.

I estimate it will take about 5 to 6 stacks to wire the subsurface pumps to Hell. Easily. I'm willing to grind for gameplay related things, but for design and building materials, I just don't have the patience anymore. Built 1 too many worlds, I suppose.

Do it like this.
1 is an outlet pump that leads straight to hell.
2 is an inlet pump connected to 1
3 is an inlet pump, connected to your waterfall.
That hole at the top is where your waterfall flows into the pump room.

This way, when the water rises too high, it'll be sucked up by 2, teleported to 1, and 1 drops it into hell in safe, non-connected streams.  I can make this in-world if that's not clear enough.

Also money generators aren't terribly hard, especially with statues and dart shooters, even more especially during blood moons.  If you can set up a drop too far to climb out of (ie, a 10 block fall) that's 2 wide, then zombies will get stuck in it when you stand at the bottom.  So you get under it with solid floor in the way.  Zombies fall in on their own, and a poison dart shooter in the wall kills them.  Just hold a water candle and go eat lunch, come back for infinite gold!  Additionally, goldfish can be sold for 2 silver each and stack 99 deep, great if you set a goldfish statue in the pit as well, especially as blood moons turn goldfish into money machines.  Rabbits work during blood moons as well.

I guess I can. That will get the separation I want. Still going to require pump balancing though. Hrm, then I can have a big underground waterfall too....

Or I can just create a cheet character, stick a platinum on them, buy what I need and throw away the rest :P
