You can build walls in magma. Just not out of wood, for obvious reasons.

Well actually, wooden walls in magma doesn't burn the wood, but it could be quite baffling to the viewers, since that it's very obviously wood, and it's in lava.

Thank you for all the fish. It was a good run.

Yeah. It's like DF. Walls are magma proof, but furniture and platforms are toast.

I dumped sand in magma once to plug it up, and after wondering why it didn't turn into glass, continued doing so until it stopped working. Turns out the server partially crashed. :P

(This was back when the sand multiplying itself on drop bug still existed, too, IIRC)

We could still walk around and talk, but most everything server-side was dead (except apparently client-related things since we could hear each other).

Since so much is client-side, I was able to pry up a hellforge and put it in my inventory before logging out, and it remained there afterwards, despite also being on the server when it came back up. Bizarre, huh?

Your character data (and inventory) is saved to file every time you open your inventory. The world only saves itself out every few minutes.

Its kinda silly to complain that a friendly NPC isn't a well designed boss fight.

I just got Terraria for 2.49 at the Steam summer camp sale. I feel so smart and good at financial management.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

I finally got a natures gift and an anklet of the wind.

Nothing left to do now but stickpile bricks. Times to flood the jungle with the ocean so the water goes to hell.

This lava is above hell, and there's a lot of it.

Well, 2 days after getting Terraria for $2.50 on Steam, I now have enough hellstone to make my armor set and most of my tools. Turns out once you get past the surface of hell, it really isn't that bad a place. Chill out at the bottom of the map, and even the giant bone worm things despawn when they go off the map after hitting you once. That leaves the imps as the only real danger, and even those are hardly dangerous. I managed to pick up 900 hellstone in one trip even; only leaving because my inventory was full and I was tired of staring at the horrid blinking lights. Now I just need to finish getting the gold for the pre-req set...

To me it is the Lava Slimes that are the big deal now.

I really hate them.

They're not so bad if you don't kill them. They're pretty weak for hell enemies, and the major danger is lava, so if you don't kill them, welp. Although I do like how they eat through wooden platforms when you do kill them.

Hmm.

I'm not sure whether I like silver bricks or obsidian ones. I could always make two towers, or make them with both.

I wonder what it looks like to have a silver-obsidian brick pattern...

Not muchof the mixed material stuff looks terribly good, really. Hopefully they'll eventually have smoother mixing effects than they have now...

That little gap is so disconcerting :-\
