Anyways, Wish Upon the unicorn pony is now venturing into the Hardcore world of the Equestrian Wasteland, so rocket boots is a non-issue for the moment since I doubt she'll live long to find a pair. Hurrah!

Heh. My hardcore start's been doing fairly well, but is currently in a fairly non-enviable position. Corruption was nearly immediately to the right in a new world, and a quick runthrough with my decked out dude showed that a) it went for a bloody long ways, and b) terminated at a surface jungle, which didn't end until it hit the ocean. Basically, the entire right side of the map is functionally blocked off for quite a while.

The left side's got a bit more play room, but it too runs into corruption far earlier that I'd like

Looks like the only option is down! Which is annoying. Need (more) gold for pick, bleh.

So it's possible to make a sandgun. Ten antlion mandibles, uh, illegal gun parts, and something else.

I kid you not.

Now where the crap does one find illegal gun parts? Kill the Arms Dealer somehow?

Also, I got the fancy spear thing and the Guide Voodoo Doll. The doll lets you slay the guide yourself, and the spear is just amazing.

Pulled the spear out of a chest in Hell, btw.

Many NPCs now sell different things at night! (And after different bosses are killed.) This means that you can buy Corrupt Seeds and Vile Powder instead of Grass Seeds and Purification Powder from the Dryad at night (first time I saw that, I assumed it was very inconveniently bugged for where I was gearwise), Unholy Arrows from the Arms Dealer once you kill...I think Eater of Worlds, a bunch of nice weapons during the Blood Moon, and Illegal Gun Parts at night, possibly after either the Eye or Eater is killed.

What's the Dark Lance like? ...hell, what are spears like?

 First spear is basically just a shaft that slowly extends out and slowly retracts. I assume later spears are faster/longer. I think it also follows your cursor after it's been deployed. It deals damage multiple times and I held back like five skeletons at once with it, so it can easily deal with groups.

Yeah, it completely butchers pretty much any ground based enemy, assuming you have a wall to knock it against, and flying enemies in tunnels. I like it better then the ball o hurt even, but I was always terrible with that thing.

Ah, thanks. A bit more research suggests that the Dark Lance (>Trident>Spear) zaps everything in a seven block line. Which is...pretty impressive. Aforesaid research also makes me really excited for the Demon Scythe spell. Just...as soon as I get to hell.

For anyone looking for plants, I think I've found all of them, with one of them being an assumption. I'll spoiler it for those who want to find it themselves.

Daybloom flowers - Found outside on surface level during the day. I doubt anyone needs to know where these are.

Blinkroot - Found underground, at least as deep the first rocky strata. Watch for blinking lights. Technically found on any grassless dirt, but most grassless dirt is found underground, so there you are. Thanks to breadbocks, I think it was.

Deathweed - Found in the corruption. Seeds only come from deathweed that's growing near ebonstone. Thanks to SirAaronIII!

Moonglow - Found in the jungle. They only bloom at night, and only give seeds at night as such.

Fire blossom - Underworld. I'm assuming on this one, and the wiki seems to agree with me. Has seeds, the plants need to be submerged in lava. Drops are fireproof presumably?

Cactus - Desert, obviously.

Waterleaf - Found in the desert. Small sprout poking up out of the sand. Pretty easy to miss if you're not watching for it. Has seeds, submerge the plants in water to make them give seeds.

Coral - Found in the ocean, where you'd expect it.

Growing details that I forgot to include - All plants can be grown near the surface with no issues. (barring cactus and coral? Not sure, haven't tried, come to think of it.) However, two plants have requirements, which arreeeee...

Blinkleaf - Will wither if left in the blinking stage (or maybe never reach the blinking stage?) if left too long, and will stop giving seeds.

Waterleaf - Needs to be grown underwater. Thanks to SirAaronIII

Fireblossom - Needs to be grown in lava. Thanks to Umiman for confirming this via herb garden picture.

I have gotten deathweed seeds before. Also, I can confirm that all plants can grow in pots above ground near the ocean. Blinkroot grows SO fast.
More growing details: Waterleaf can only be planted if the pot is submerged, and Fire Blossoms can only be grown if the pot is near some lava.
Plus, it appears that cultivated blinkroot can wither. At least, it stops glowing and if you break it, then it doesn't give a seed anymore.

I'd always just assumed blinkroot sometimes never reached the blinking stage. Not sure. Updated.

If you build a skybridge in the sky with dirt, Blinkroot will grow on it.

I know this because I was watching my Dad play (and yes, I did mock him for making a dirt skybridge), as he has stolen my Steam account for his Terraria needs now that i have shown it to him.

I am excited to play the update though.
