Hey, do you guys have any tips for finding Floating Islands on Large Maps?

Meteor shots. Lots of them.

For additional fun, buy the minishark and start spamming bullets upwards to the sky. If the shots come back down, there's your island.

Also, easiest way to find Islands is definitely meteor shot, just shoot straight up occassionally and if it comes back down you've got an island, whee!

Actually, it's the make a map of your world using that map making third party tool, but I guess you're right they "non" "cheating" way would be yo use meteor shot.

I dunno, the map thing sounds like a lot of work. I carry a handgun and meteor shot with me anyways, so it is practically no work at all.

Thus second way is easier (though the first is probably more efficient)

It's not, actually here's the link just set it to the world's file, to the destination file (Of the final .png image of the world map and you're set). No need to run around shooting all over the place looking for an island.

Nah, most of th'mapping stuff I've seen takes like, two clicks. Maybe three. Five to six if you count the installation. Possibly a little bit of typing. Compare to the possibly dozens of clicks to fire upward and find the islands, plus the amount of time you'll be holding down a movement key. Incredibly less amount of effort than actually getting meteor shot and something that'll fire it, even without that part :P

Indeed, your mathematical skills have left me speechless, I stand corrected. I tip my hat to you sir.

This sounds like more work to me. Clicking randomly is what I do to entertain myself when I'm already going to the other side of the map. It is literally zero extra work - I am a passive island hunter. :P

I suppose the map thing is a lot easier if you are just starting out though.

Yeah it is, helps you find jungles, chests and all, also the dungeons and crap like that. Incredibly handy.

If you already found one floating island, then the others are approx. 1500ft from each other from either side.

My brother and I surveyed a map or 2, and that was pretty consistent data.

Deon you should get a job as their sprite artist. That helmet is awesome.

I agree, Deon that helmet is amazing. Why haven't you made a DF tileset?
I think he did have one at one point.
Mostly because I am in love with Sphr's tileset. I always use his dwarves :P. And of course most of my custom creatures in Genesis which are many are my graphics.

For a sandbox game, Terraria is awfully linear until the point where you have reached the power of a Terraria god. For me, it went like this:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Some things could go in a different order, but generally the order things go in would likely be the same. And at the end, the only things left to do are grinding for the few useful things left that you don't have (Pretty much just Sunfury, but Blue Moon probably works fine.), spend hours looking for King Slimes for ninja equipment, or building.

ALSO, does anyone know if I set Steam to Offline mode if I could play multiplayer with two seperate computers over LAN? Can't really test it ATM but would like to know if I'll be able to this Summer.

Silver... for anvil? Iron is much quicker.

I think I was having trouble finding iron for a long time into the game though, I never had any iron tools or armor went straight from Copper to Shadow.

And yeah, you can buy an anvil for 50 silver.
