Flail against bosses. It hits multiple times if you cast it above your head when Skeletron is levitating.

That and flat-area dodging. Worked for me ;p

Either way, musket is superior to the 'shark.

What?

If you're talking about damage per bullet, then I'd agree; but in terms of DPS, the minishark is superior.

In the time it takes to shoot one musket bullet you'd probably be able to fire ~5 minishark bullets.

Skeletron's 6 defense cuts the musket down to 15 per shot, and the minishark gets 6DMG X 5 shots.
If targeting the hands, musket is cut down by 9 to 12, where the minishark is 3 X 5 shots.

Though, the biggest downside is DAT COST. How much does it cost to fire this for 12 seconds?

With Blue moons being Dungeon-only and Sunfuries being a rare drop from Bone Serpents, I think he's still getting by with a Ball O' hurt.

Also, has anyone else tried throwing Vile Powder on Skelly?

However Blaze I will state that it isn't that hard to have the Minishark do minimum damage (that being 1) while the musket can still pull a 10+

The Minishark is sort of a joke weapon in that respect. It looks like an amazing weapon, but it isn't.

Though it looks like they did bring down Skeletron's defense. I remember when minisharks did 1 damage to him.

This. The star cannon is too, unless you have massive stocks of ammo like I do. B)

I tried to solo skeletron many times so i can tell you what failed for me :

DO NOT Make a single flat area : when you're running from skeletron and a zombie shows up, he'll stop you right in your tracks. Adding wood platforms every 3 tiles of height across the whole area makes it way easier, and will let you dodge zombies and skeletron much more easily.

DO NOT Target the hands : takes way too much time with pre-dungeon gear. By the time both hands are destroyed you could have killed the head already. Trying that resulted in the fight dragging until dawn (you die automatically if that happens).

I suceeded when i used shadowscale armor, a minishark with 2000 meteor shot, a starfury and a phaseblade, with cloud in a bottle, red balloon, obsidian skullx2, hermes boots.
Oh and i had 30x +200 health potions, around 350-380HP and 200 mana.

Most important thing is to put the potions and the weapons you'll be using on the most easily accessed shortcuts, so that you can switch easily mid combat. And watch your hp at all times, pop a potion as soon as you are 200 hp below your maximum.

Note that back when i did that, the space gun didnt have 0 cost with meteor armor on, i think this could work too.

I used meteor armor + space gun. Murdered the hell out of him.

I used the Flamarang, shadowscale armour and like 3-5 potions.

I expected it to be harder.

As for me, I used Shadowscale armor + Minishark with 2000 musket balls. Easily murdered him.

The Minishark however, seems to be a joke weapon. It has no practicality whatsoever outside of boss fights, and it isn't effective against the eater of worlds.

It just feels nice though, being able to spam hundreds of bullets in just a minute.

Yeah, the spamming hundreds of bullets in just a minute is the problem. It needs to eat up massive amounts of ammo to do more than a scrape.

I managed to beat him by cheating and going to multiplayer dungeons where he was already dead. But in all seriousness, I killed him with Jungle armor, a 'nix blaster, and 250 meteor shots.

I didn't know the order you are supposed to do things in, so I ended up facing him in my molten armor gear and murdered him with my molten bow plus unholy arrows

There is no order you're supposed to do things in. That's the whole point of it being "sandbox". You can luck out on a few artifacts and take down Skeletron with just a lot of health and potions.

Actually, is there a sort of a record kept anywhere? Lowest gear/char level to take down Skeletron/EoW/EoC?

EoC is possible with full copper and enough shuriken, I've heard. EoW is easy but I don't know how easy, and Skeletron is probably the hardest.

EoW is hard if you only have lesser healing potions, as its head segments do 50 damage in 1.0.4.
