Yeah I found the star piercing invaluable for the eye minions. And he's gigantic and easy to hit with all three + sword until second phase.

If Space Gun shoots faster, and therefore gets mana regenning faster, it might be worth it though.

You can empty your mana with the space gun in just a couple seconds and then switch to another weapon. Considering that you'll do massively more damage with Starfury, you may want to stick with that unless you're using bands of regeneration or wearing meteor or cobalt armor.

Or you could just wipe out all the deserts and create a massive glass tower somewhere. I've been doing that.

NPC's don't like me.
I've met the requirements for at least two (Nurse and Demo-Man) to show up, including rooms, and they aren't here. I've waited several in-game days, maybe even a week, and nothing.

Bigger rooms. You need them. 60 tiles minimum area, I believe. Also, you'll want to get rid of that dirt wall in the right-most room and finish walling that up.

To you people stating your boredom of Terraria- Set some challenges for yourself. It really opens itself up for this, and can create several extra, truly enriching playthroughs. I'm currently playing a character restricted to shurikens as weapons, without armor. Just starting over with such limitations makes one rethink the value of all of the various accessories, tools, and even the environment available to the player. Other challenges could be a Pacifist game (mostly), or no armor, or no accessories, no grapple, mana only, or no life crystals, heck, even no potions. There are many different ways to play Terraria and I'm surprised to see few people trying them.

Mine is to remove the beauty of the natural world with as much urban sprawl as possible

How do I get rid of the dirt wall? I've tried the hammer, and the pick.

Hammer. Hafta start from top where you can see the sky. Basically, hit the border between dirt and sky.

Or build a brick wall over it.
