By the time you have enough spare gold to get a minishark, and you don't have capped off mana, you're doing something wrong.

As for mana pots, why would you ever need one? Unless you decided to fly around the universe, the only time when you would need them was if you desperately needed mana for some reason, which I just can't imagine.

One full mana meter doesn't give you enough juice to fly up to the sky islands on Large worlds, even in meteorite (or cobalt) armor. Even in Small worlds, you have to use the grapple to latch onto an island a lot of the time. Also, sometimes you DO desperately need mana. Rocket boots are a natural means of dodging, and some of the more effective "spells" are quite mana-heavy. Using the two together will have you run out of mana very fast. If you really don't want the mana potions taking up inventory space, you can always combine Health and Mana into green Rejuvenation potions.

Also, I got two platinum coins from all the loot I've gotten in caves, and only recently managed to get the last of the required shooting stars. You don't have to do anything wrong not to have hit the mana cap by the time you're filthy rich. You just have to be a dwarf and shun the surface world as much as possible.

Actually there is one very good and convoluted reason to get mana potions.

Because they give you access to the BEST potion. The Rejuvination potion.

I don't use my rocket boots THAT much, and I don't like how the cobalt armor looks. I normally just stay in my necro armor because I feel so slow without it now. Can't take up spaces with anklets of wind since I use my red balloon, cobalt shield, cloud in a bottle, and rocket boots most of the time.

40 stars. Ha. Autoclicker laughs at your puny stockpile.

Anyway, yeah. Forget having the gold to get the minishark and not having full mana, I've got basically everything except the flamelash and rocket boots and still only have about a half a mana bar. Really, the only thing that seems worth using the mana is th'light orb (which you don't need extra regen or more than 40 mana to use indefinitely) and rocket boots (which I don't have). So don't really need the mana, and running back and forth at night jumping over zombies is kinda' boring.

Tend to collect enough for a mana star whenever I go out to find a dungeon in a new world, though. It's a natural progression.

Well out of the 10 to 12 hours I have been playing about 9 were above ground I don't go undergroudn very often, but now that I got my silver broadsword, and my full set of bronze armor I am ready to venture into the depths. Plus I get all of my stars from the ones that fall on my partly finished Floating castle, and my grand bridge
