The elfiness drops rapidly if you use localized application of magma to cut the trees down. It's actually a great method once you have a good platform off the ground.

This is a new character, new world, and I don't usually keep my old ones. I'm planning to harvest them with corrupt seeds once I kill the Eye. Until then it'll just be me and an axe.

Is it the rocks that cause the corruption or the creepy ground?

Both, although only the purple grass spreads. You'll also need to get rid of the ebonstone walls if you want the corruption gone.

Ebonstone spawn the eater of souls. I don't know if tey also cause devourers to spawn. Corruption does not spread because of the stones howeverr.

Q for you:I cannot join my own server by using my own IP. Does the porting on 77777 actually means anything or am I doing something wrong?

I didn't know i'd tunneled all the way from base to corruption until the music went.

I don't even know how much rock is above me.

I tried it and it doesn't seem to work. Hamachi works fine for me but some of my friends' computers don't like hamachi...

The port is actually 7777... might that be your problem? (come to think of it, it probably shouldn't let you use a port beyond 65535)

*facepalm* I quit the hosting client of Terraria when trying localhost..... Now it works but will other people be able to join with just entering my IP or does the 7777 need to do something too?

Routers block incoming connections by default (because they would have no idea where to send them) -- Hamachi uses a tunnel to connect your computer to the others in the VPN "directly", thus bypassing the need to forward ports on the router.  It still uses ports, certainly, because they're a vital part of the TCP/IP protocol, but in this case there's nothing you have to do with them.
If you're not going to use Hamachi, you have to "tell" your router that your computer('s LAN IP) is where incoming connections on a port will go.  That's port forwarding.
You could hook your computer up to the modem directly too, but others in your house won't appreciate that

you have to "tell" your router that your computer('s LAN IP) is where incoming connections on a port will go.

Which, if you have a dynamic IP like I do, is a complete and utter waste of time. Using Hamachi is easier.
